Spooky? I'd say that if it was anything, it was trying to symbolise Liara's internal pain and suffering, and how tormented he's been. The shadow cast over half of her face is trying to represent that, IMO.

I actually quite liked it.
I like the more elaborate Liara sigs. The reason why I don't nick them is that I don't want them to become too numerous, they'd loose their uniqueness and appeal.

Heh, to this, I add that whenever I enter Liara's office and see her shadowed face, I keep hearing this piece from one of Bioware's earlier games:
I mean, some of Liara's appearances in that type of lighting tends to send shivers up my spine.
