Then again, I still think I'm in a minority on this thread who can say they had little or no problems with the gameplay, just thought that large parts of the story sucked donkey balls.
EDIT -- I am kind of amazed that the last three words didn't get filtered.

By themselves, those words aren't bad.
The story is what I have the most beef with...the gameplay is there, but I judge the game more by it's 'emotional engagement' factor and storyline. I was not engaged emotionally.

Agreed, I still get goose bumps when I play ME1, more specifically Ilos and the Citadel battle. I don't get that with ME2 at any point.

Here's something to think about:
Based on what Liara tells us, the Union with you creates a life bond which is supposed to even transcend death, and that they'll always be together.
So what happens when one of them dies, and then comes back from the grave?
I image, whatever is happening to Liara, it's driving her mad. It's probably already making her have second thoughts on all her beliefs. Thinking back to how Liara reacts to you, apart of me thinks, somewhere in her mind, one sentence is repeating over and over, driving her insane:
He should be dead.

I don't get why it's terrible. The game would be boring if every room had the same lighting. Illium just happens to make blue look paler than it would in sunlight. Now there are some instances where Liara, like all the characters, looks wierd with the way the light hits her face and that is indeed a case of the game engine failing to properly simulate the light. But for the most part the scene looks just fine.
Surely you must have seen how the terrible lighting in Liara's office affects her badly, particularly when she's sat at her desk? Take a look at this image, for example:
There's about three or four different light sources that mix together and really mess with the lighting and colouring of Liara's face. There's the blue light that shines on her from behind and covers the right half of her face, there's a strange white light that comes from Liara's right that causes the other half of her face to go that powdery blue colour. There's the orange light from her computer that creates an orange glow on her chin. Also, for some reason there's always a dark shadow that obscures half of her face.
The lighting is awful, and really affects Liara's appearance and messes with her skin colour, as you can see from the picture above.

Its quite possible thats what they were trying to get across.

Probably also why non-romance Shepard is more embraced, and why romance Shepard isn't.

That pic is kind of what I was getting at when I said sometimes characters look wierd. This is hardly limited to just Liara though, and isn't specifically the result of poor level design. It isn't even limited to this game or this game engine. The point I was trying to make was that I think people are obsessing over the lighting in this room as if it were some evil scheme to make their favorite character look bad. It's almost like people want Liara to be exempt from the lighting algorithms so she is always the same apparent shade of blue regardless of the ambient lighting. I like the fact that the game has varied environments and that people do look different depending on what their surroundings are. Quite simply, while there is always room for improvement, I don't think there was anything particularly bad about the whole scene from a visual perspective. It's just not a bright vibrant place.
could you explain this a little more, i don't understand what you are trying to get across.TMA LIVE wrote...

I dunno. Comic Book Liara would splatter her all across the room w/ one blast, but game Liara might have some problems. Then again, Liara has Shepard to back her up in game.
