Of course! Elysium! During the Blitz, IMO, Shepard carried on his person a close-combat knife, which was lost in the fight. My guess is Liara managed to track it down and restore it. It would be simple (similar to the British M1917 bayonet), but it has been restored to it's original condition and bears an inscription:

"With this blade, you defended worlds ... may I forever guard your heart. Liara T."

Still thinking of the other part of the exchange.

My Shepard would have come across "new" Prothean ruins during his planet scanning. If possible he would take Liara with her to one of those ruins and go through them with her. They can be together and do something she really likes, so we'd both be happy.

"Let's forget that there are Reapers and a Shadow Broker out there for at least one day and just...have fun." :-)

As for what Liara would give to me, as in my Shepard....I don't know. She'd probably just have to show up to make my day <3

Maybe she'd outdo herself and organise a surprise party....

*Liara looks down* "I've read that humans tend to do that for friends...and loved ones....I hope you like it." *Liara looks up again with a weak smile*.

She may even arrange for my mom to be there (Spacer) ... who knows if they met and got to know eachother in the 2 years I was gone...

Morning my fellow Liara lovers!

Birthday gifts that we could give Liara? Well, I like to imagine that my Shepard salvaged a few personal items of Liara's from the Normandy crash site. A trinket Liara had that was given to her by Benezia, a nice framed photo of Shepard and Liara together, and a beautiful sapphire necklace that was given to her by Shepard. Sadly, Liara had to leave all of this behind when they Normandy was attacked and destroyed.

My Shepard would then take Liara out for dinner, with some dancing thrown in too! The pair of them would then sit underneath a tree, with Liara resting her head on Shepard's shoulder. At that point, Shepard would then explain to Liara that she knows that she lost some very personal items that she holds dear to her, and hand Liara what she recovered from the wreckage of the Normandy. I'd like to imagine that Liara would then be very moved, almost to tears. Cue kissing, and a warm, loving embrace. :D

Ahhh..what I'd do for the ability to take Liara out for dinner and dancing in a romance pack DLC!

I loved Liara in ME1. But her quoting her dead Mom so icily in ME2 and her handing Shep over to Cerberus sure surprised me. She has changed incredibly since the destruction of the Normandy and I'm not sure that I still love this ruthless, secretive Liara.

Liara hates the fact that she had to do those things, too. She's only threatening clients because it's an absolute necessity, and hates that she has to. Liara has also been self loathing for two years because she handed Shepard's corpse to Cerberus, because she couldn't let Shepard go. She knows it was due to her own desire to see Shepard brought back to life, and that Cerberus would use Shepard, and she absolutely hates herself for it.

True, true. I hope ME3 will offer good closure re: her hunting the SB. I love Liara, she is the only ME1 LI who'll treat you lovingly in ME2.... I wish they had offered more than that kiss though. Like, more personal dialogue... Couldn't she have sent Shep off with a "Be careful, ok? I couldn't stand to lose you again. I love you!"?? :wub::wub::wub:

Go ahead and call us idiots if you must. I know I slightly feel like one. When I boldly claimed last week that BioWare would be announcing the Liara DLC this week, I felt confident and attractive.

Oh, well. I still want my ME2 Expansion with Liara in it. ^^

Oh and to the Overlord DLC.
Probably someone already said this but: Bring down the sky, anyone?

Exactly! That's what all of us Liara lovers have been complaining about! It's just incredibly bad writing that they have Liara who still cares for Shepard not wish her well on the mission or anything. It's a poor oversight.

I'm still loyal to Liara forever, though.

I hear ya. Heck, even the EMAILS were more personal than the chats with Liara. Couldn't Liara at least have written a mail too? Given her profession, she'd definitely know how dangerous Shep's mission is!

Here's something to think about:

Based on what Liara tells us, the Union with you creates a life bond which is supposed to even transcend death, and that they'll always be together.

So what happens when one of them dies, and then comes back from the grave?

I image, whatever is happening to Liara, it's driving her mad. It's probably already making her have second thoughts on all her beliefs. Thinking back to how Liara reacts to you, apart of me thinks, somewhere in her mind, one sentence is repeating over and over, driving her insane:

He should be dead.

could you explain this a little more, i don't understand what you are trying to get across.

Lets put it this way. You've linked yourself with someone, and then they died. Two things could have happened. Either A) the link is dead. Or B) You think "We'll we're linked, so she'll always be with me."

Dead person comes back. The link is the same, or no link at all, or seriously screwed up. You're talking to a walking ghost. In Asari culture, once someone dies, you're forever link to them. Yet Shepard is right there, and you don't feel connected at all.

That's why I think in the back of her mind, she can't help thinking what I wrote.

I do actually theorise that the lack of exclusive romantic content with Liara in ME2 is because Liara's romance will be tackled in the Liara DLC, and the reason it is absent is because they're maintaining the status quo, albeit in a very contrived way. Once we get the Liara DLC and we finally receive her full ME2 role, so to speak, we'll finally be able to rekindle Shepard and Liara's romance, and the pair will at last show each other some love.

Happy Birthday Sunnie! May the BBG smile warmly upon you.

Jho's new artwork is great, and that excerpt you pasted Indigo is beautiful. Very well written.

Also Happy Birthday Shavon?

My Shep would give Liara the small artifact she picked up from the Prothean ruins where she was trapped, mounted in a beautiful shadow frame with the inscription "Of all the things I rescued that day, you were the most beautiful and important of them all. My love always, Shepard."

You say Liara changed. I say, the problem is that BioWare changed. A lot. <_<

In my opinion, Mass Effect has no successor anyway. Maybe it's best to remember the true Liara and forget whatever BioWare/EA let a character with the same name say and do in their latest game. If there's ever going to be a proper continuation of the Mass Effect series (and of Liara's story), and if in that context suddenly everything makes sense, we can still reconsider.

Sadly but i agree whit that statement i must.
Not for the first time proven is Bioware unability to creating proper sequel to thier best games.

So less and less hope have i for true reactivation of this series in ME 3 ...

While waiting for ME3, Ill be playing FO New Vegas and quite possibly make a Liara type character in it, as far as skills go. Unrequited and unfulfilled til ME 2.5 or its sequal. Must have closure. Til then Ill just distract myself with other games. Yes, that will help somewhat. Hmm, maybe I should make my spartan in Halo Reach pink, blue and brown to rep Ash, Liara, and Kai? Heh.
