Exactly. I know I can prattle on endlessly about Liara sometimes, and to tell you the truth I enjoy doing so because I just love talking about her, but substantial and extensive discussion, theorising and speculation is what makes this thread great, and is one of it's key strengths. I love the lengthy posts about Liara, as I love reading and writing about her!

Your "prattling on endlessly" is another thing that makes this thread great. I like reading it, even though I can't share your optimism.

That is a beautiful scene as well.  I remade my face expression poll (no Tali/Kasumi) and Jack is winning.

So what type of character do you want Liara to turn into in ME3? We know she'll love you, and promised a good romance for being faithful, but what type of character do you want her to evolve into? Do you want her to stay the bookish, shy, and young lke in Me1, and who wishes for you to protect her? Or do you want her to evolve into more a more mature/soldier like character, who wishes to fight her own battles, with a lot of anger and pain, but will still break down, hold you close, and tell you she loves you?

Goodwood would very much like to see Liara develop into a confident, well-rounded person who can handle any crisis, taking charge when necessary. Which he thinks we're already starting to see...after all, she did take the initiative when acting on the tipoff and going to look for Shepard's body. Liara has the potential to be just as "great" as Shepard; she's certainly already as "good" as (Goodwood's) Shepard is.

I want to see some of Liara's dark side. We've all got one. We've seen her on the verge of obsession and searching for information, but I want to see her driven. I want to see just how intense Liara can get, be it her hatred at the Shadow Broker or her love for Shepard. Perhaps both.



Quite often, it's the quiet, patient ones that come at their objectives sidelong; getting information, checking results, testing, probing and oh so patiently working towards the moment of action..then they unleash hell on levels most never thought they were capable of.



We've seen Liara be cool, patient and precise. I want to see her tear loose.

I don't believe Liara wanted you to protect her in ME1...she does state she is 'not looking for a protector'. I do prefer a Liara who wishes to fight her own battles. This doesn't mean she has to shun help from Shepard or others, though.

I want Liara to return to her archeologist roots and resist that maiden urge to go mercenary. Calmness with a new aura of maturity. A professor that would make Mordin proud. But with less explosions and creative use of farm equipment. A hero for scientists everywhere! With a fine-tuned singularity.

Really, I would like her development into a more analytical companion to Shepard versus just another soldier. Find other ways for squadmates to contribute their talents besides what they can do with a well aimed gun or biotic surge. There have been millions of years, thousands of civilizations that have faced and lost against the Reapers. Shepard could use an expert to help find something these civilizations have left behind that can help with the Reaper threat -- some of them have had to come close to survival before. I can't think of a better person than Liara for this.

Liara would be great for that.  I wish that could have been her role in ME2 instead of standing behind her desk plotting meaningless revenge.

You're right. I guess I mean, do you want her to seem like the person that needs her knight? Or do you want her to evolve into more of a warrior type character?

As for me, though I hated how inaccurate and inconsistent the comic is to her character, I really dug her in that combat suit, beating up guys, and not taking **** from people, yet still having a vulnerable side to her. So a part of me wishes they'll go that route, though more realistic, and less Commando (the movie).

No!  Definitely not.   I prefer a more independent Liara.   I think she is already a 'warrior' type in the sense that she has experienced combat and is very effective as a person that can fight alongside Shepard.  I would like to see her go back to her more academic roots sometime, though.
