I usually string the human LI along until they confront you with Liara. I only do this because I enjoy the extra dialog with Liara and I love the smile she gives you, after you choose her.

Nah, there were many other games before, and JA was far from providing "absolutely open terrain". Was still a great game though, and it didn't pretend to be more than it actually was.

I stole it from here.

I manually changed the .ini file and added the following:

FullBodyAppearances=(Id=5,Type=CustomizableType_Torso,Mesh=(Female="BIOG_HMF_ARM_MED_R.MEDb.HMF_ARM_MEDb_MDL",FemaleMaterialOverride="BIOG_HMF_ARM_MED_R.MEDb.HMF_ARM_MEDb_MAT_1a"),GameEffects=("SFXGame.SFXGameEffect_Gear_PowerBelt"),PlotFlag=-1)

This goes under the '[SFXGame.SFXPawn_Player]' section, below all the 'Casual Appearance' lines.

This is only for female armor, btw.

Also, after you pick up Liara, you can tell Kaiden "Remember, I saw her first."  Kaiden responds w/ a confused pause and then "I hear the Asari are open to that kind of thing, ma'am" or something like that.  That of course locks Kaiden out of the running right from the start.  Would love to have heard the lower deck chatter after that scene.

Kaiden: "Am I the only one who didn't know Shepard was a ..."
Ashley: "A What?  Oh, God.  Is she an alien is disquise?"
Kaiden: "No. Not exactly."

A quibble on terminology.  No game in the Dark Forces series was in any significant way an RPG.  The fact that there were some character customization options in Jedi Academy doesn't make it even a hybrid.  The focus in JA was always on action, and very little time was spent not in direct combat with enemy forces. True, but the order was absolutely inconsequential.  The game would have been exactly the same had the missions been in a fixed order.  Of course that mechanic alone doesn't determine what an RPG is.  ME could be the same way and it would still be an RPG.  JA was one of the earlier attempts at infusing an action game with some features commonly found in RPGs.  IIRC most reviews noted the attempt but agreed that it didn't really amount to anything.  It was, of course, still a great game.  The lightsaber combat in both Outcast and Academy was just amazingly fun.

I still remember how scarred i was when i fought sith knights in that pathway before Marka Ragnos tomb chamber on Korriban...

JA came out around the time that games were really trying to increase the size of the world.  That was also around the time we started seeing reasonably convincing foliage heavy outdoor environments.  The game was not a truly open world, though.  It was linear but was made to feel a lot bigger than it really was by clever level design.  Your recollection is probably pretty accurate though.  Before that generation of games attempts to portray natural settings tended to make the limitations of the technology pretty obvious. 

But enough thread derailment for now.  It should be noted that Jedi Academy was sorely lacking in blue women to romance the main character.  Ever since Viconia in Baldur's Gate II I have relied on bioware to fill that niche.

Yep, theres that one too.. that's the early one, the other is later.

I've never very much liked the whole support thread thing to be honest... I mean sure it's great to have threads for characters you like but I feel as if it is dividing the community. It's like each support thread is it's own seperate clan. The members of the Tali clan (Tali-ban) keep peace with the Miranda clan (Miridians) but neither one dares to roam into the others thread lest all hell break loose. The Ash clan and Kaidan (Kaidanites) clan have long held a pact, but there is still a subtle rivalry among them. Then there is the Liara, Garrus, Samara, Thane and Jack clan... and perhaps even hints of the start of a Shiala clan. The last thing either wants is war.



I dislike that I basically have to "belong" to one of these clans or else I really have no sway on the forums... I have to belong somewhere or else people will not be interested in an in-depth discussion. Is it not possible for a person to like all or none of the squadmembers? It is dividing way the forum way too much IMO and is taking up the campaign quests and storylines forum which I would have thought would be reserved for actual questions about the story...
