Yes I know, she gets very protective of Shep very quickly ^_^

I have this image in my head where she accidentally says a little more then intended...

Liara: Hay! stop flirting with him and get your slimy space hussy hands of him.... *oops*

Shepard: What did you say Liara *pleased grin*

Liara: eumm... nothing Commander *blush*

Just to illustrate the moment a little bit :D

I've noticed something. In ME2 after you've completed her two quests and then ask her about her work, when she says "Still hunting" in that deep voice, she arches her left eyebrow in the exact same way as you see here. Maybe that's a habit Liara's got when she's pissed off?

Even pissed off Liara is still adorable!

As far as we know, her father is still alive, right? Would be nice to meet in ME 3. But then it would be nice if Spacer Shepard could meet his parents too (and maybe introduce Liara to them), and that will never happen either.

Yeah, he may still be alive. Benezia didn't really talk about her father though, so she may not know who he/she really is. With Benezia gone, it would be very hard to find out.

Calling it right now, the Shadow Borker is Liara's father.

I guess that might explain why Liara's taking the whole thing so personally.

Well everyone, Chapter 4 of my story is done. Before I even let you read it, let me give you a preface

Some of you aren't going to like it. Some will complain it is too dark, too ugly.

The point I am trying to make is one that I think the ME developers glossed over. Shepard and Liara have changed. People who are in love change. People who stay together adapt to that change, as they love the person, and endure what time and environment does to each other, or at least the should try to.

This story shows some of that change. It is a rough chapter for Liara and Shepard. Its a portrayal of them I think is very realistic, very grim, but I think fitting for all that has happened.

I hope you enjoy it. I promised there will be a resolution, and it will happen in the next chapter. I think I am drawing too much from real experience, from myself and others. Maybe that is a bad thing. You can decide. I will tell you as a writer, drawing from the well of oneself, it was a draining chapter to write.

That would be insanely rough on our blue goddess. First her mother, then her father? I still don't think the SB is her father, but there is a chance of it. She may have inherited her fathers knack for information broking.

Bah! Another issue where barely anything happens. I actually got excited when we see "the Shadow Broker" and then... deus ex machina.

The second page contains the ugliest representation of Liara ever. Whoever drew that should be smacked.

And just because it's a comic doesn't mean Liara has to turn into Jean Gray/Phoenix whenever she uses her powers!

Actually, I am pretty sure that's how comics work :P

An interesting place to take it. Not sure she'd ever attack Shepard directly but I think the anger is apt. I wouldn't worry too much about drawing from personal experience though - everyone does.

I'm curious as to how the last comic will play out. I really think they need to have her being blackmailed/forced on the path of hunting the Shadow Broker. She is so obsessed with Shepard in the comics that I don't see that fading away at all, no matter how much time has past. She'd likely transfer that obsession to keeping track of Cerberus' progress. Shepard's return should really be an incredibly important and intense moment in her life - there has to be an outside force keeping her from showing that, and revenge does NOT explain it.

One thing I've noticed so far about the comics: nothing that's happened thus far explains the extreme anger she shows. Sure, she's mad at the Shadow Broker and destroys that room...but that's a far cry from 2 years of obsession. She's angry about the Shadow Broker being patronizing and she thinks she's lost the body. Getting the body back and learning they can rebuild Shepard has got to go a long way towards lessening that anger.

I hope the next issues gives a better motivation, because what I've seen so far doesn't make enough sense.

Don't worry Screwoff has already well established his diametric appraisal of Liara from my own.  No offense, but I'll pass on reading it.  No harm done.

Agreed.  Nothing in the comic nor the game so far explains her extreme change in personality.

Yeah I don't think one issue can explain her change in personality...hell, she kinda acted strange from the beginning of the comic.

Yeah I have to agree with you here. I also think we won't see full fledged angering moments in the comic. I don't know what they could possibly toss at us that wraps all of that up in one issue. All the comics so far are brief.

Isn't there that "shocking revelation" stuff still pending? What I've read here, it wasn't in this last issue. Also, that Drell will be captured. She says it herself in the game that this is one of her motivations too. Probably she feels guilty for leaving him behind.

Somehow I don't think they are going to justify it.  It was one scene that they clearly thought unimportant.  The director of the scene was probably thinking only about the lines in the scene and calling for more intensity.

"She's angry about what happened.  Give me anger!"

I doubt there was a whole bunch of thought put into the backstory or Liara's personality.

Agreed.  In the end I think it'll just be chalked up to badly written dialogue and over the top directing for the VA's.
