They should have shown that in-game. Like, the camera looking over the shoulder of the LI, looking through the window. Kind of like Shepard looks through a window at the beginning of ME 1. The LI sees either Shepard in space, or at least the Normandy exploding. Later we learn that the collectors have captured the Virmire survivor. In the end, we rescue them, of course. No time to talk. They're too weak to fight, so they go back to the Normandy. As for Liara? Either just make her scene on Illium proper, or find a reason why she's also on one of the colonies, or come up with something else. Shouldn't be that hard to do for any half-decent writer. In the end, she would end up on board the Normandy too.

Once we've defeated the collectors and everyone's back on the Normandy, there's a confrontation if you have chosen a new LI. If you want and are able to make up with the old one, he/she will stay on the Normandy (this would work even better if the game actually ended there, but unfortunately they want to continue selling DLCs). There, kept them out of the main game, but didn't trash them. They said they'd provide this last part in ME 3, but if they did it in ME 2, everyone would have a reason to look forward to ME 3.

Of course, the developers would have to care first... <_<

It would have been nice and preferable to have most of Redemption shown in-game, bjd. That way, they could have tailor made Liara and her dialogue for each individual Shepard. Because the story has been told in comic form, though, they were forced to make it completely romance neutral, and leave it ambiguous so that it's easy to interpret Liara as either a friend or lover to Shepard, so that it fits into each player's own personal canon.



I really would have liked to have seen a romanced Liara hunt Shepard's body down, and see some of the differences in dialogue and how she acts. She would have been alot more mournful and sorrowful, naturally. Maybe her guilt would have been far greater, too? Really big missed opportunity by transferring to story to a comic medium, IMO.

I've been wondering if Liara went for Shepard's body because she knew the Collectors were after it and didn't want them to get it? Or did she go after the body because Cerberus said they could bring him back? I'm trying to figure out the driving motivation here: save Shepard's body from an unknown fate with the Collectors or save Shepard's body simply to bring him back to life?

I like to think that Liara made tentative enquiries as to the whereabouts of Shepard, as she wanted to find the body of her dead friend/lover, to pay her last respects. Somebody would have then tipped her off that someone on Omega knows where Shepard is, be it TIM, Miranda or Feron. Liara would then have traveled to Omega, to meet with someone as she was obviously instructed to.

Once Liara was tasked with finding Shepard's body by TIM, though, she had no idea about the Lazarus Project, or Cerberus' plans to resurrect Shepard. It's only once she recovered Shepard's body and brought it back that she heard of the plan to rebuild Shepard. That's why Liara initially hunted Shepard's body down to both keep it out of the hands of the Collectors, and to pay her respects to to her dead friend or lover. She then obviously handed the body over to Cerberus when they said they could rebuild Shepard, because she wanted Shepard back and couldn't let go.

I still think Feron contacted Liara, and she didn't start looking for the body until then. Why else would she have any reason too? For all she knows, there is no body as it was blown to bits or lost somewhere and is unsalvageable. Setting off to search for no good reason makes no sense.

That's what I like to imagine. For a few days after the destruction of the Normandy, Liara would have been inconsolable with grief at the loss of Shepard. I then think she would have resolved to do something constructive and positive, and try to track down Shepard's body to pay her respects. Liara would have then made tentative inquiries as to the whereabouts of Shepard's body, probably via the information network. TIM, being interested in obtaining Shepard's body too, would have then become aware that Liara, someone he knows is one of Shepard's crewmembers, is also looking for Shepard, and would realise he could use her to track Shepard down. He'd then instruct Miranda or Feron or whoever to tip Liara off that someone knows where Shepard is, and that person is one Omega. Thus, Liara would travel there, and the events of Redemption would begin.
