Lets see...Will they talk to us? No, they will talk at us, but not with us, and we will most likely be Image IPB with what ever they have to say. Thats whay happens when we get Image IPB in the last game.

I found the last game more like <_< and :(, so  would be an improvement. My reaction to ME 1 was  by the way.

ME1 for me is still Image IPB, while ME2 is now more or less Image IPB

Those were sad times. I like how the devs ignored us up until it was time to lock down the thread, because Liara and Ashley weren't 'cool' enough for ME2.

I wonder how it will be this time. Mr. Woo promised the developers would participate in the forums again at some point. Question is: Will they talk to us too? Oh, and will we like what they have to say...?

I do hope everyone will be around then, to tell them our opinion...

That depends on how people respond to them. Stanley doesn't seem to like dismissive or sarcastic complaints coming from either side.

Also, I have nothing against Liara or any other character - I didn't like the way they wrote her in for Mass Effect 2 as well (or Kaidan/Ashley). In the same token, BioWare doesn't have a vendetta against Liara either. There are valid reasons for doing what they did, although we won't see until Mass Effect 3 is completed.

Back then, the devs did post in ME2 character threads, even Tali's before she was confirmed as a squad mate, and ignored the Liara/Ash one since (as we found out later) neither of them were significant in ME2.  It would have been nice for them to just tell us this from day one, but they just ignored it, hoping it would go away (I guess?)

We found out Liara and Ash weren't going to be recruitable in ME2 only about a month and a half before the damn game came out, and this was from the leaked Jan 2010 OXM issue.

I guess the devs will crawl out of their holes once its time to hype ME3 and get us to buy it and I'm fairly sure this wont include any discussion but a lot of variants of the "Trust us" line and some vague answers about the roles of our favorite squadmates just like the last time where they evaded nearly everything about the old Lis in ME2 and just gave vague answers until shortly before the release

@ Ecael, I don't think Bw necessarily has something against Kaidan/Ash and Liar either,, but you have to admit, they were very lazy in implementing their roles. It was hastily, sloppily done, and in doing so, they have alienated a bunch of fans. Not the best way to go about cameoing beloved characters. I cringe to see what they are going to do with the ME2 squad in ME3.

I wonder if had that article not been leaked which confirmed that Ashley, Kaidan and Liara would not be squadmates in ME2, the devs would have kept us in the dark right up until release?

Imagine actually going into the game expecting Liara to have a large role and be a squadmate, only to come across what we were given with her. The disappointment would have been absolutely crushing.

Well if the devs will start to visit the threads and we apply their behaviour to this before ME 2.. and they then post here then it should be rather a good sign.

I don't think BW hates the characters (or they would have just killed them all off), but they are apathetic to them. It seems as if BW included Ash/Kai/Liara in ME2 just because they 'had to do it' but didn't really 'want to', so slopped together some garbage at the last minute.

That's what you say, but you don't know more than we do. I for one wouldn't call it a "vendetta". But to me it's obvious that they want to sideline her, and possibly sweep her romance under the rug too. Everything I've seen indicates that, including the complete lack of communication, or any other attempt to explain what they did to her, and why.

Maybe they had Business reasons to do so...I expect an "awakening size expansion" with those characters....so they pulled back the dialogue to pack most of it in their and keep the fans of em hungry for it

They would have yes. They best thing to do when you are going to sideline major characters for an entire game is tell your fans.. however, doing so risks lost sales on release day.  They prefer not to tell things like that since it will affect their opening day bottom line.  Shady business practices for the win!

Actually in parts the whole ME2 feels like they were aphatetic about everything from ME1,not only the lazyness regarding the old Lis,we have discussed through and through Liara "character development" feels like "dark and edgy" for the sake of "dark and edgy" nothing more
And then the whole reaper storyline is more or less ignored,I mean how exactly has it really moved forward or did we learn anything new about them, aside from the possibility of turning the collector station over to an organisation I wouldnt trust with watering my plants
And the fact that they made the rest of the galaxy idiots so Cerberus can shine, this "Sovereign is a Geth ship" doesnt make any sense

Including romances in the first game of a trilogy that carries over your decisions causes major complications (more than just Paragon/Renegade dialogue choices), especially if you want to introduce new characters in each game.

It would have been very easy to recruit them in Mass Effect 2 otherwise.

You have to admit, although the writers are great at developing a character, they don't know how to handle the romance section.

(And yes, if you would like me to provide reasoning or evidence for any of those three statements, I will, but it will result in huge blocks of text - I warned you!)

Jeez, I can imagine how intense my crushing diappointment would have been if I'd played ME2 without knowing that the ME1 LIs were going to be cameo'd. I would have seen that Ashley is on Horizon, and assumed that was her recruitment mission. When my Shepard then finally met her at the end of the mission, it would have been awful to see her react like that, and storm off. :( I would have consoled myself that at least Liara would probably be recruitable, as she's not able to die in ME1.

Upon reaching Illium, though. Holy hell, I think I would have had to switch the console off for a while. Expecting Liara to join up, and then getting that reunion scene would have been awful.

There is NO VALID REASON for keeping Lia/Ash/Kaidan out of core game except personal approach of ME 2 team to work of ME 1 taem.

After about four fully completed ME 2 runs whit ALL squad members and crew healthy (well maybe except Thane but this is another issue^_^ ) and alive after C-base i really fail to see any logic in Bioware claims...

Apparently current ME production team have NO FREAKING IDEA how to create plausible romance plot.

I remember once read interview whit one of the core Bioware -Edmonton staff about why femShep behave so idiotic when comes to Jacob romance...

Believe me... it was first time when i read so open full sexist approach... from that interview Bioware ultimately lost any respect in my eyes.

That's why to be honest i have grim expectations about any romance plots in ME 3...

I said on more than one occasion, that the Council knows whats really going on. However, as I think more about it, it really does seem like they have painted the council as appathetic dumb asses that don't have an once of sense between them. This is testament to the lack of attention to the running story line for more pew pew and recruiting.
