I think she'd use Pistols and SMGs.
Powers:
Throw
Warp
Singularity (Loyalty Power)
class: Asari Scientist, evolving to either Asari Explorer, or Asari Archaeologist

If Liara actually were a squadmate in ME2, what do you think her powers and weapons would be? What about her class?

How about Biotic crush as loyalty power?

Sounds good, except her loyalty power would have to be something 'unique'; one that Shepard doesn't have. It can be an altered form of Singularity.

I'd give her Lift as a loyalty power. Otherwise, I agree with LET.
Lift? Thats pretty underwhelming for a loyalty power. Either singularity (or a form of) or a new special biotic ability i just made up called crush.

I've got one: Vortex Singularity. Traps the enemy in a biotic whirlpool effect. Combine that with Throw, and it would be deadly!
I hope they reintroduce more powers and customisation for ME3 when Liara returns as a squaddie, though.

It could be that 'biotic tornado' thing she whipped up in the comic book.

That's what I had in mind when I thought of "Vortex Singularity". A power that can be unique to Liara.
MDK? Can't wait to see it! Glad I've been the inspiration for a Liara piece.

So, like a Singularity that moves slowly across the battle field?

Maybe. What I had in mind was a Singularity that creates a whirlpool/tornado effect, like you described. Any enemies that are caught in this Singularity that then strike any other objects or walls whilst in mid-air would then be dealt extra damage.
One of the power's evolutions could be that it moves slowly across the battlefield. I think that would be a good unique power for Liara!

Liara was a pretty awesome teammate in ME1. She'd have to be carefully designed to be equally useful under ME2's rules on higher difficulties. The good news is that Bioware's ability to deliver a balanced game has been increasing with time. Even with its flaws ME2 is far better in this respect than ME1 was.
One big plus to a potential ME2 Liara squadmate: She will no longer stand there shooting the wall. Poor girl just looked so silly doing that. Yes Liara I know there is a bad guy exactly 10 feet in front of you on the other side of that concrete barrier but I think that there are faster ways to achieve your goal. =P

Yes. Or worse yet, shooting at you because you happen to be between her and her target. If ME had friendly fire, we would have been so incredibly dead!

Biotics are somewhat underwhelming in ME2. I think Bioware's decision to make armor and shields nullify so many powers was bad both from a gameplay standpoint and from a logic standpoint. As a rule of thumb playing on higher difficulties should not break the game balance.
This did get me thinking - how does having shields stop biotics? I mean, from what we know about biotics, they affect gravity and mass and all that stuff - so surely Pull or Lift should still move the target, shields and all?
They should have had it so that shields/armor reduce effectiveness, rather than simply stopping them from working full stop.
