Liara getting giddy with excitement over her archaeology or the Protheans is absolutely adorable, for some reason. Intelligence is sexy, and Liara has it in spades!

I'll think you'll find........Shepard......is the one with the spade, my friend

I think that one falls into the "Random Thing That Struck The Artist Funny" category.

I don't get it. Is it supposed to be funny in a tongue in cheek way, in that the artist knows the art is terrible and the joke pretty crap? Is it supposed to be sardonic humour?

Regardless, there are much better Liara pics on dA!

Maybe it's a reference to something, perhaps some movie. The quote in the last pic.

I don't know...some Shepard's can look pretty beaten and old...maybe it was mocking character creation failure.

Regardless of the intent, I'd say the joke fell pretty flat!

Here's a much better picture of Liara that's on deviantArt. Erin, you know how you said earlier that you wanted to see Liara wearing glasses? Here ya go:

Suits her perfectly.

I'm still debating how Liara's glasses should look in my pic......actual glasses, or sunglasses?

I'd say go with actual glasses. They suit Liara's intellectual, dorky personality alot better.

Hi everyone here.

This is just to share an observation about the "new" Liara in ME2. I just played the encounter on Ilium with my Renegade femShep who romanced Liara in ME1, and the scene acquired a whole new mood. I watched her intimidating this man on her vidcomm, and almost heard my Shepard speak in my head: "Well, my girl has acquired a backbone **feeling of approval**. But perhaps I shouldn't have brought her with me to Benezia. Those lines don't get better coming out of her mouth **smirk**. Hope she still likes *me*, though..."

The rest of the scene was as usual a bit disappointing, but this was the first time I liked the new Liara. A strange sudden connection. It also helped my roleplaying, since I normally find it rather hard to play a Renegade.

So, am I now to be tarred and feathered because I've come to like the new Liara?

Nah, it's fine. Don't worry about it. :D

I actually think it makes sense for Renegade Shepards to approve of Liara adopting this ruthless facade, and liking how Liara is acting. They'd encourage Liara to keep this ruthless, hardened facade, and to act a little more aggressive and forceful.

Well, if it were me, that would depend on several things. For instance, do you want it to be viewed in a serious or more casual sort of way?

No, it's not that people don't like the change, but that it was explained poorly (or, not at all).

It's like in ME1 we get "paragon Liara", in ME2 we get "renegade Liara" - and in ME3 we may get to decide which persona stays? *hopeful*

It would definately work.

A paragon Shepard would want the old Liara back, and a renegade Shepard would want Liara's toughened attitude in ME2 to override her lingering ME1 persona.

That's probably what's going to happen, Shepard will have an alignment influence over Liara in ME3. Renegades will encourage her to keep her ruthless and hardened facade, whereas Paragons will comfort her and help her re-embrace her true compassionate and caring personality. I'd be very surprised if this doesn't happen, it seems to be set up perfectly for that to be the case with Liara.

That it was. The first time this encounter was a total shock. I think whoever made that scene was working under the unconscious assumption that everyone has read the comic book(s). And for someone who had grown to love the young, somewhat shy archaeologist who liked to poke her nose into old ruins (an aspect I also like), the change must be painful. Renegade or not, I do hope we'll get to see some of her old personality come back in ME3.
