So that was the explanation for her not joining with Shepard? Not exactly creative either. It disgusts me that the man who seems to be the only capable writer is rather working on that MMO which I have no interest in. And I bet even he can't give that game a proper story, it's just not possible with that kind of game. And let's face it, the audience for the most part doesn't care that much about story writing anyway.
I will try the MMO and hope it is a success, but you are correct about the writer. MMO's do not need a storyline, they need continuity and anjoyable group combat with rewards for effort.
Lets keep story where it belongs, in the single player games.
if so then:

There has been no official word or rumor that's even worth listening on the subject. I'd take that with a grain of salt. No need to worry. I wouldn't be surprised if they attempted it in the light that TOR was a massive success though.

I sure hope he comes back as a driving force behind the story for ME3 though. Liara needs a writer that cares about her in the finale. Hell I hope he comes back in time to do the dlc/expansion if it is going to be focused on her.

I think the lesson to learn in this situation is don't change the goddamn writer (who is actually good) in the middle of the trilogy.

Shepard should be the optional squadmate. Liara should be the protagonist. Fighting Cerberus, the Reapers, and the greatest threat of all: Tali romance.
After she crushes the Shadow Broker. While he's wearing a helmet. With her mind.

I couldn't agree more. I find it extremely odd that they moved him to TOR when the ME series desperately needs him more. If he can't get directly involved hopefully he can at least get some input in that will sway the writers from some questionable decisions they may make otherwise.

Like I mentioned in another topic: what if Liara is able to die if you don't successfully complete her missions?
I doubt it, not many decision's you make in ME1 have an effect in ME2. Two squadmates can be dead in ME2, and they clearly are dead already when ME ends.

Liara's dialogue seems unfinished. It's odd that there's follow up for the other two LIs, and Kelly has comments for them as well. Liara does not. Plus the cut quests, etc.
Still, as it stands there are major issues with Shepard's interaction with her. It's passable if they weren't lovers, but I think the case where they are needed to play out differently.
It's pretty unbelievable that the relationship wouldn't come up. It's too obvious the writers are demanding the player be uncertain about the relationship - to force the "rocky" second act, as Casey Hudson said. In a natural conversation, there are multiple places for the dialogue to flow into a discussion about what Shepard's return means for the two. It's simply artificial to not include it - it feels really forced.
Also I think her motivation is too hazy. Is she doing it for Shepard? What does Shepard's return mean for her then? For her friend? What's their relationship? To fit the timeline, she couldn't have known him very long....and her falling in love with him makes even less sense.
Making it about her guilt and redemption makes the most sense, and is the most interesting to me. However, the game really needed to let Shepard talk to her about that.

I'm hoping she will have a lot more dialog and not lost her studious nature. I have been faithful to her and so missed out on a romance through all ME2 (though I flirted somewhat with Garrus but called it off as I just couldn't do it to her) so I'd really like to make that up in ME3.

"Deck 3: Crew Quarters
Team Members:
Miranda etc"
In the Deck 1 where your personal cabin is, it says
"Team Members:
None"
Is it always like that? Could it mean Liara's name could appear there one day either in the DLC/expansion or ME3?

I like when you finish a playthrough and that screen pops up telling you that you can continue or experience new romances. Wow, like that really reinforces the "romance" and doesn't make them seem like casual sex encounters and that Shepard is cutting notches into the headboard after each one. Makes it absurd too from the cheating angle, you're going to have Shepards that have cheated with a freaking quarter of the squad plus Kelly.
I don't need any of that shallow crap.

True but he is the best choice for that job, no one else at Bioware is a Star Wars EU author, still I wish he could have had a larger role in writing the story of ME2 because I bet we would have got a lot more of Liara/Shep if he had.

THIS. Really - what I really liked about the Liara ME1 romance was that, yeah - maybe the TIMING was because of the we-could-die mission ... but ME2 just kind of had a "Last Chance For Nookie!!!" vibe to it. Meh.
And, two bonus thoughts:
First, people who romanced Liara in ME1, and cheated in ME2, and want to woo her back in ME3 should have to - Bare Minimum - acquire 50 Prothean Data Disks as gifts for Liara. From the Mako. And there should be a mini-game where Shepard must painstakingly assemble hand-drawn "I'm Sorry I Cheated On You" greeting cards. That would be an acceptable scenario, to my mind, for cheaters to get Liara back.
Second, if there were a "Liara T'Soni and the Prothean Skyway" Action!Archaeologist game (am I the only one who really wants to hear Liara say "it BELONGS in a MUSEUM" ... ?), that would rock. Heck - they could even have this be the Post EndGame DLC ME3 Expansion with Shep the protagonist (for continuity), and the game was Shep following Liara around digsites, holding her bag and shooting mercs and slavers.
Those suggestions are jokes. /EDI
Except for the part where Liara + Shep = Happy Ending. That part is not a joke.

I can give you one reason that says it all, Drew K. is a rather successful author in the Star Wars universe. He's written three fairly popular novels which in this day and age of the Star Wars EU is unusual. Also TOR is the most ambitious MMO ever made as they are making it a fully voice acted game with an actual story and if I were Bioware I'd give the job writing the game to someone who is really good at writing in that universe rather than some random staff writer who has never touched the SW universe.
Still, I wish he had been more involved in ME2 because of the little bit we got of Liara. I bet Drew would have found a way to keep Liara out of the squad and suicide mission but had her far more involved in the overall plot.

Yes would not mind having him back, its more than clear that the ME writing team needs some help.
