No, those assertions are all implicitly present in your original statement.   Perhaps you should be more careful with how you phrase things.   Add concessions and conditionals.

Also, "criticism" isn't "whining"

No that example is part of a sentence opened by "some people". Excuse yourself from it, stop whining, accept youre wrong and move on.

I think Jack and Grunt suck and used that in a statement about certain peoples character tastes in light of the characters they like and dislike. Just because youve somehow wrongly taken that as a "everyone who likes Jack or Grunt is.... etc" doesnt mean that was the point.

Grunt was actually one of my favorites of the new cast right behind Mordin and Samara.  I found most of the more "popular" characters rather shallow.

I agree.
As I said, I rather like him. But he isn't a very complex character...imo^_^

Looking ahead to what I think BW "will" do and not what I "wish" they would do, I don't expect many fans will be taking the game to "their" happy ending.  I expect lots of disappointment and flaming once ME3 info starts rolling out, and even more once people actually play it.

[/quote]

maybe so but I believe they will do well with this game, They said they were watching out for what ppl wanted. We all know they wont be able to make everything work and make everyone happy but what the majority want may get lucky. At least I hope so, then again you could be right and we all get screwed either way wont know until the "lovely" two years or however long this game will take to come out hits streets... hopefully soon im already ready for it xD

I'll discuss this with you further when you stop being confrontational.  I will admit none of the things you stated.

Frankly, I'm disappointed.  I play the apologist for Liara's fans, and I get attacked by a fellow Liara fan.

The only ME2 team mates I disliked were Garrus, Grunt and er, Shep. Everyone else I enjoyed, and I will defend Miranda, Legion, Mordin, Thane, and Samara to the death.

Jack was interesting, but her emotional healing being more or less conditional on the romance really bothered me.

Im not being "confrontational", Im being "final". Just because you misinterpreted something as a blanket statement towards all Jack and Grunt fans isnt my problem. Im just telling you youre wrong.

Edit: I will admit the statement was coloured by my own dislike of the characters, but other than that it was directed towards a specific kind of person who HAPPENS to like them as an example.

This.

I hate that on my "canon" playthrough, Jack is still telling me she doesn't want to talk post-Collector base

Samara, Mordin, Morinth, Miranda and Kasumi are my favorites
Jacob, Legion, Jack, Grunt, Zaeed: I don't love them, I don't hate them
Tali, Thane, Garrus: They usually don't survive the suicide mission

Shep...

Ah, you also think that the character of Commander Shepard suffered horribly in ME2 too, jtav? You'll find alot of people in here who think the same.

For me, it's not just in her interactions with Liara either. Shepard is very poorly written elsewhere in ME2 too. The subservience to TIM, the fact that Shepard has seemingly become inhuman and displays no real emotional vulnerability, like with the locker scene in ME1. The manner in which death and resurrection doesn't seem to affect Shepard at all.

For me though, the worst was Shepard's interactions with Liara, for obvious reasons!

I disliked Grunt, Jack, Zaeed, Miranda, Jacob, Garrus and Tali. Garrus and Tali were unfortunate as I liked them from ME1, but they sucked character wise. Another "romance or nothing", and when there is no romance, they feel less like rounded characters than the engineers or chef. Legion was another dislike because it was too late in the game. Thane was okay, but bored my somewhat, and I found his "family man assassin" backstory to be annoying.

Mordin was hella funny on my first two playthroughs. Since nothing more has come since, the comedic value is gone, and to be quite honest, his moral dilemma now just bores me. I dont really consider his soul searching over a damned if you do, damned if you dont situation all that compelling now.

Samara was interesting enough, and a decent character. Again, now her backstory has lost its charm over time, shes edging closer to "meh" then "like".

Kasumi? First half of the mission was fun. Once the mission is finished, its just like Zaeed, little comments. On the face of it I like her, but its all pretty damn shallow and pointless in the end.

Yeah, as I predicted before the game was out, ME2s squad certainly dont appeal to me.

Hmm......in celebration of getting to 1200 tonight......and because ever since I started posting on here people have stopped reposting them - I give you every Liara picture I've ever done...

(in chronological order + with commentary)

Image IPB

^ My first picture of her.....changed the colour scheme to green quite late on, as Therum's colours weren't working right with Liara's outfit.

Image IPB

^ You'll notice Freya Shepard's N7 tattoo is missing, as are her scars - hadn't even given them any thought at this point

Image IPB

^ An attempt to make Freya appropriately muscular. Originally she was going to be alone, then only Liara's leg was going to be visible through a door - then I just decided to go the whole way

Image IPB

^ This was really just an excuse to use the female Alliance uniform. It's on the disc for both ME1 and ME2, but isn't seen anywhere in either game

Image IPB

^ I really wanted to somehow draw them both naked, but in a non-sexual way. I think it went quite well...

Image IPB

^ 'Dirty Dancing' anyone? Liara's outfit is of course in keeping with her coliurs...

Image IPB

^ Illustration for the fanfic 'Holding On to Let Go'

Good, thatll spare me your whining in future when you misinterpret a simple point I make, no doubt because it involves a character you like.

yes i noticed this too, in ME1 they did a good job keeping up with Shep's emotions, in ME2 seems to lack the same in depth character tributes.

For me, the worst was Sole-Survivor Shepard's total lack of emotion at suddenly having to work with Cerberus.

"Hey, I know your wacky experiment killed my fellow soldiers and forced me to the brink of death on Akuze, but I am completely indifferent to the fact that you are now by boss, TIM."

What's even more galling is that you then receive that angry and disillusioned email from Corporal Toombs. It's like they wanted to highlight how Shepard doesn't react to Cerberus' past activities.

Shepard in ME2 has the emotional range of a teaspoon. I understand he's supposed to be "badass" but come on. The dialogue was missing some really obvious options, particularly relating to his resurrection and Liara. He doesn't seem human. All the LIs deserve better.

Toombs, Ashley/Kaiden on Horizon, and it'll be awkward for Hannah Shepard for Spacer Shepards, if rumors of her son now working for Cerberus reach her.

"What the...my son is crazy."

Well if I go by the characters one by one

Mordin:I liked him,hes a nice comic relieve plus you could at least reason with him about the genophage that made his loyality mission one of the better ones

Garrus:Like him mainly because of nostalgic feeling, otherwise he still felt somewhat tagged on due to his lack of dialogue

Samara:A bit stoic but ok,also has a loyality quest that doesnt require shooting which is also a plus

Jacob:Bland,that is all

Grunt:As said I'm quite indifferent about him

Thane:In general ok,I just wish he had more dialogue outside of romance

Jack:Basicly the same as Thane, but the treatment of her relationship with femshep was really bad

Tali:Quite nice since I liked her before, but overall not that special, sill one of the better loyality quests though

Kasumi/Zaeed:Personally I liked Kasumi better when it comes to the two but overall the lack of real dialogue really handicaps them somewhat

Legion:Like him since he gives a nice insight into the Geth and also because he didnt turn out to be a ME version of HK47

Miranda:Not that bad,but the problem here is that I somewhat missed to discuss project Lazarus with her or Cerberus in general.so her quiting Cerberus really comes out of nowhere

Morinth:No idea just had her kill Samara once to unlock her power but just reloaded after that so never bothered to play with her

Overall though all this characters lack dialogue, also I think Shepard is still the worst of all maincharacters in the game, the Liara scene is really iconic to showcase that

What's even worse is that Hannah Shepard turned down a substantial military promotion to honor her son's memory, and now here he is, working for Cerberus.
