Could you imagine if they killed Liara off in such a trivial and meaningless way? No way would they have her die if the player flubbed up the Observer sidequest.
It'll be handwaved away, and Liara will deduce by herself that Nyxeris is a double agent working for the Shadow Broker.
I can imagine the dialogue.
"One thing you must understand is that the world of information is a harsh one. I envy you, Shepard. You're able to trust your people with your life. Whereas my own assistant turned out to be an agent for the Shadow Broker."
"You mean Nyxeris?"
"Yes. As it turns out, she was The Observer all along. She was the one who supplied the false data. It wasn't long after my people eliminated the target you gave me when she made her move. I was caught off guard, and needless to say; it was a close encounter."

I've often thought that too, that they make keep Liara alive, even at the end of ME3. She is potentially the one character that could link back to the original trilogy and Commander Shepard's story, even in a game set centuries after ME3. They could make a game set over 600 years after the events of ME3, and Liara could appear as a Matriarch. If you romanced her, then she could talk fondly of Shepard and how much she misses Shep. Like I said, she's the one character that could provide a link back to the original story.
yeah this would be cool for the games after Shep! they did say they planed for a trilogy and then afterwards to take it further.

Looks like Casey says we are in for a "continued stream" of story expanding dlc, and that they aren't ready to talk about ME3 for "quite a few months," implying to me a time well past E3, so I wonder what is in the lineup of announcements for June related to ME.

I don't really follow E3 much. Is it common place for them to announce DLC and expansions , not just games?

So its likely in case of a ME4 that they will go the same route and make all the characters disapear to avoid "confusion"

E3 is pretty much about anything video game related (as I understand it), so it wouldn't be unusual for Bioware to unveil new DLC there.

I would imagine they might make Liara killable in some fashion in the last part, its not like they really attempted to connect ME1 and ME2,just look at the default Shepard, they removed as much as possible connecting to the first part

Thats is also a possiblity, but "if" she lives throught ME3 as cannon (which is pretty up in the air right now). I don't know if giving her a cameo would be that confusing to new people. They could make it like a bit of an easter egg to people that have played the trilogy. Besides that a lot of people that played the trilogy will play ME4, so its not really wasted potential.

Frankly its more important what will be established as an ending to the trilogy, then what happens with Liara, will they establish a canon aside from the reapers being reduced to scrap metal or will they just stay vague about the rest like how the council looks like etc
A easter egg like thing might be possible but I doubt Liara would get any bigger in case of survival,as I see it its more likely they will go with a completely clean slate for a potential ME4,which is not that bad actually since the ME Universe is big enough to travel through it without ever having to meet one of the old characters
Besides there are so many places we have yet to see and I doubt we will see them all in ME3,like Turian,Asari or Salarian space,or the Quarian homeworld just to name a few
Also playing as an alien race would be nice, though that might give some problems regarding voiceover work

true but this section is about Liara... so we talking about our favorite asari and not really the end of the whole game xD

This is how I understand it as well...and since anything to do with Mass Effect probably won't be ME3 related now (as implied by the article) maybe, just maybe, they will throw us a little blue bone!

Kinda reminded me why i thought she was the most interesting romance in ME1, even when there were not too much of a development of a relationship. If you ask me the romance with ashley/kaidan is much more polished, with several hints at it from the beginning and then it slowly develops.
I´m hoping for a dlc for ME2 to make the character justice and perhaps fleshing out the romance a bit more. Just saying hi really, never posted here before. Showing my support for Liara and all that^_^

Just played ME1 recently, and i think the romances back them were not as fleshed out as those in ME2. Still for me one of the most memorable quotes of liara is when the normandy is grounded and she says "i am with you in every step of the way".

It annoys me more when guys RP as a girl and go lesbian with Liara. 99% of the time they probably don't even listen to the dialouge.Erinlana wrote...

In fairness, these same people you refer to would probably skip the dialogue in any of the heterosexual relationships, so it's not like it's unique to the Liara/Femshep relationship. I think one has to be careful about overgeneralizing with statements like that, however.

No reason to feel akward, there are a lot of female Liara supporters here.

I meant that they are usually the ones who only do it for "lesbian action", not for the actual romance.Blameless77 wrote...

Sorry if I offended anyone, that's just how I see it:P
