They'll have to write romance content for 8-9 characters.
They could go the easy way out and just cameo all the LIs.
Yes nad let's make new LI that no one will even do nor care about. <_<
Do you really think there'll be no new characters/romances in ME3 (not the whole squad of course)
- everyone needs a working squad (Ecaels "Morinth/Kasumi" Shepard as well)
- some new ME2 squadmates have large fanbases (Miranda, Mordin), why should it be any different for ME3 characters?
ME2 is the middle, it's logical. We have 16 characters already, there is no need for anymore. The more characters you make, the more the other characters will suffer pissing people off.
I will repeat this once more, Bioware already stated that they are no onger bonded to clasic rules of the trilogy but they go in "each games are stand alones connected only by name of the series".
Heck fact that they made main character of the game killable in C-Base proven how far they broke trilogy rule.
I agree that kills Shepard in that base required actually lot of work or absolute lazies from player part but key is YOU CAN KILL SHEPARD in that base... it's like killing Frodo in Two Towers or Luke in TESB... or even John Connor in T 2 <_<.
That's why i would start to advice to be prepared for another slap in face when ME 3 will be introduces... however i really, really hope that for one time i will be wrong in that matter...

Yes, as does every LI. I'm just saying that most ME players aren't as devoted to the characters as the ones that are currently active on the BSN. We are still around because we love the characters and the MEU. Most ME fans only come around close to a new game's release. When ME3 is announced and they start showing teaser trailers, you'll see an influx of people who don't care as much about the old characters...they just want to see the new stuff.

That's a given, casual fans will always like whatever the next flavour of the month is. It's inevitable.
I do think, however, that Liara does maintain a pretty large fanbase amongst the casual Mass Effet fans, though. This is from my own experience looking around other forums and talking to various other people. When I see people demanding Liara back in the Mass Effect thread in a forum dedicated to football, that tells me something.

yeah but it could be simply you will have to create a new Shep on there in which they will randomly choose the background like in ME2. If you followed your ME1 Sheps to the ME3 more than likely it will be worth while. They want money and they would get the most money out of following what their fans want ME3 to have in it. plus THEY did SAY they were going to watch out for what the fans want in this one.

Amazingly enough, it wasn't me! I'm only a lurker! It's a forum dedicated to Manchester United which I browse occasionally. As a Chelsea fan, I'm probably not going to become a member there.
But yeah. Liara was discussed!

IF Bioware would remain faithful to original ME developing team whit Drew Karpyshyn as lead witer we will get game where choices from first part would actually matter... but sadly Bioware relocated Drew's team to work on ToR and lead role for ME 2 pass to mac Walters who already proven himself as rather poor writer... and by the way Bioware's introduction Mass effect games as trilogy did in the end turned out as one huge PR hoax used to lure ME 1 gamers back to the series... and i don't like to be cheated only in order to get what is inside of my walet <_<.TMA LIVE wrote...

I think Bioware is more of designing them more as stand alone, so they'll be remembered as more stand alone, then simple clones of the same game. Example, how many games could end with you and all your team dying? How many games are Shooters with RPG elements? How many games are about "Do the ends justify the means?" And how many games have a "custumer created" character from another game, come into the next game, with choices being tracked? Answer: Not many. Is it perfect? No. But again, it hasn't really been done before.

The fan club group is no more an indicator as the thread is. You may want to try and find out how many are still active. I will bet $ on most of them joining the group and havent logged in in months since, or havent even made a single post in the group.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...

Take a look at the size of the Liara Fan Club, and the fact that it's one of the most viewed groups on the website. Character threads aren't the best judge of popularity.

Again, just because there are a lot of views doesn't really mean anything. Its about who joined and who is still active and participating.
I can fill a group with hollow numbers to say the same thing. The number is still holloow though and really does not indicate anything real.

I've now decided to give up on the Liara rejected/Kaidan died save, after being forced to replay a Mako level five times because of game design flaws (screw you UNC missions!). So I'm now playing Mass Effect 2 with the Liara romance/ Kaidan lives.
Anyways, I can see why most fem-sheps really hate what they did. Without Liara as your romance, it's very lonely, and she's all you got. As Male-Shep, I had Tali. But as Fem-shep, she's completely alone and sad. Liara's scenes were over in 20 minutes in a 40 hour game. The option of moving on doesn't even seem to exist, unless you want a straight relationship (no, I don't count Kelly.) It's very sad.

Regardless, Liara is a character who's fanbase has a very significant presence on this website. The group or thread may be as unreliable as you say, but it's still right up there amongst some of the most popular and loved characters, of which Liara is a part of.
