Again, just because there are a lot of views doesn't really mean anything. Its about who joined and who is still active and participating.
I can fill a group with hollow numbers to say the same thing. The number is still holloow though and really does not indicate anything real.

Regardless, Liara is a character who's fanbase has a very significant presence on this website. The group or thread may be as unreliable as you say, but it's still right up there amongst some of the most popular and loved characters, of which Liara is a part of.

Appearances... they aren't always whats really going on. The significant presence is being made by a couple dozen people who make up the regular posters here. Show me real numbers that say differently and I will believe it, otherwise I will stand on my sumation.

Let me put it this way. I was a Liara fan when ME1 came out, but I didn't join this forum. Imagine 1 million more people doing the same thing, except they also like other characters. Plus, even if they love a character, doesn't mean they're joining their fan thread (example, I love Tali and Garrus, but I only view their threads, and post once in a while.)

Yeah. Thread's not necessarily representative. It took me a long time to work up the nerve to post here, for example. And there are lots of characters I like, but I don't really have anything to say about them.

Yeah, very true. At least it keeps the thread (mostly) neat, and people actually discuss things.

I don't think the forums matter to anyone at BioWare/EA, not even threads that go with 1.000 pages a day. It's still only few people, relative to the total amount of customers. Most of which don't care about the forums, certainly not for long anyway.

Mr. Woo again said in one the other threads that they did listen, and that things changed in ME 2 because of this feedback. I actually think that's mostly a convenient excuse. They will do whatever they (and of course EA) want to, but if there are people on the forums demanding or praising it, they are certainly happy to point that out.

It was all better back in the days, when games were made by gamers for gamers. But unfortunately those days are over for good.

My point to this is, there is no way to legitimately determine how large any fanbase is here. And making blanket claims that so and so has a huge and significant influence is so far beyond naive it boggles the mind.
@les - I have said this before, I love that you are so positive about Liara, but I believe you have set yourself up for a huge and devistating letdown.  Just my opinion, which is just that.

Yeah, but my Fem-shep will never move on. I know that much. Both my characters feel the same thing, yet act differently based on how things are. Liara's all she got, thus won't move on. My Male-Shep was angry, and wanted to end the relationship, and move on to Tali, but deep down kept wishing Liara back. My Fem-shep, on the other hand, sits alone, hurt, and doesn't know what to do anymore, but the crew keeps her happy, and always visits the picture after feeding the fish. Still hurts.

I'm a completionist. Thus, I've been riding the elevator after every mission, just to keep them alive.

Anyways, point is, feeling alone hurts, but knowing the romance will continue makes me hopefull.

I have both Illium and Thesian fish and i too run after each mission to feed them, then check hamster and then... sit and watch at the Lia picture...

Yeah. I'm glad they added to picture, plus the picture scene at the end. It shows they do care they you stayed faithful, while showing the loneliness and pain of the character.

So far, I think Liara's romance in ME2 is better if you're fem-shep, simply because it shows the pain of what's going on between Liara and your character. A male shepard can move on, but a fem-shep feels like Liara is rejecting you in a lone world, or supposedly is rejecting you. Or at least that how I felt anyways.

I liked the comic, despite is HUGE problems. It is what it is, thus I don't really put much thought into it. I was angry about it, but I got over it.

I wish I had the comic right about now. it would be incredibly helpful. Explain to me why I try to do different versions of scenes I haven't actually read yet. Can't wait until the trade comes out.
