So far, I think Liara's romance in ME2 is better if you're fem-shep, simply because it shows the pain of what's going on between Liara and your character. A male shepard can move on, but a fem-shep feels like Liara is rejecting you in a lone world, or supposedly is rejecting you. Or at least that how I felt anyways.

I fell the same....this might be the reason poor FemShep all but throws herself at Jacob :P

In terms of writing your Liara fanfic, you're going to have to fill in alot of holes, and pretty much write the scene yourself if you want it displayed as Liara describes it in ME2, especially the handing over of the body. Why they neglected to show just how much of a deeply traumatic and guilt inducing event it was for Liara to hand the corpse over to Cerberus I'll never know. Terrible.

Anyway, thinking of your Liara/Miranda fanfic, you have something to work with! At the end of issue 4, Miranda puts her hand on Liara's shoulder to comfort her. You can expand on that small display of intimacy! :D

I still haven't read the comics, I just know the plot and what happens. I did pre-order that graphic novel thing that comes out in june. I was going to cancel it but who knows? maybe it'll have some added content or info.

Anyway, I really like this picture of Kaidan and Liara together, both relieved that Shepard is still alive and hasn't been crushed by Sovereign's wreckage.

Hand on shoulder? That's actually incredibly helpful. I'm starting the story pretty much at that point, wuth the pair of them viewing the corpse. But I'm used to having all the canon, so working only from descriptions is challenging.

But that would ultimately kill the shark from food poisoning...

Well, again, it's more because the relationship can mean anything that they can't. Unless they make some "If your Shepard is this Shepard, buy this version of the comic" comics (aka, import your Shepard, and the comic changes to fit the character). But I think her guilt for leaving Feron behind to save a corpse is still there.

You survived Ultimatum?  Amazing!  Especially since half the Ultimates universe didn't.

I've only seen Redemption #4 so far, and my reaction is actually more 'meh' than 'rage'.  And I've claimed in the past to be one of the only Liara fans who considers the end scene to be both good and a decent tie-in to her state of mind in ME2.  Even then, I tend to have trouble explaining why.  But I think it puts across that Liara feels devastated by the realization that Shepard is so far gone, that she can't imagine how reanimating what they have left can possibly bring the real Shepard back.  "Better Shepard be left in peace rather than be brought back as a zombie", was my thought.

(Granted, a lot of the rage -- VERY sorry, york for saying this again, if you're lurking, but I think your quick summary missed the point of that scene, and I'll say it again, you did tell us it was nothing but a quick recap, nothing more.)

Still, it's not a good comic.  Speaking as a slightly-more-than-casual comic fan, I've seen some good comics.  (Dark Night Returns, Batman: Year One, The Killing Joke, Watchmen, the entirety of Ultimate Spider-Man to about issue 110 or so... that's my idea of a good comic.)  I've also seen some bad ones.  (Linkara's reviewd most of them on Atop the Fourth Wall already, especially Countdown to Final Crisis and Dark Night Strikes Back.)  This was almost solidly in-between.

I only brought Kaiden with me once on the final mission. Its so strange to watch Liara be renagade and shoot saren in the head and tell you to kill the council.Image IPB

The end game for ME1 was so much better than ME2. ME2 felt so formulaic at the end. "Would you like to launch the Suicide Mission? Are you sure?"

ME1 it all felt like a natural progression of events you were sharing with your squad. ME2 never really manages to capture that.

I have to put this out there . . I always bring Kaidan and Liara with me to the final battle together, well, almost always. Liara to me seems to be helping Shepard to consider another option. I know the 'more renegade' squad mate usually says those lines, but coming from Liara, I've always taken it as a detached observation. Compare that with the way Ash says it. It makes you think Ash believes it's the best choice. With Liara, she's just just looking at the other side. IMO.

Also, I think Kaidan is much more paragon than Liara to begin with anyway.

Also, though Maranda says they won't be going after Faron, she is displayed as someone that somewhat cares, but is loyal to Cerberus. She feels bad making no effort to save him, but she has a job to do, and tells Liara to do whatever she wants to do.

Anyways, I have the whole comic, so if you wish, I could type all her dialogue scenes.

You're right, I should have worded that better. I haven't brought them two in a long time. Liara is trying much more to be level headed then a pure renagade.

I think Kaidan should have been the one to call for ignoring the council and concentrating on sovereign. Hes an officer, and already is at grips with that "life giving and taking" decision making.

Personally I thought the first time I saw it it was one of the most horribly jarring experiences having Liara advocate ignoring the council. Kaidan lost any chance of ever being at the end game after seeing that scene with Liara. Shooting Saren in the head as well? There is no character justification, its just poor role filling that spoilt ME1. A renegade opinion and actions are needed, and in that case Liara was just picked instead of Kaidan.

Yeah, she even doubts your decision. "The noble choice... though time will tell if you'll regret it." Or something like that.

I actually think that allowing the Council to die is not only the smart thing to do, but one that at least two-thirds of the Council would accept without question.  If the Alliance runs out of ships to take out Sovereign because they lost them defending the Council, then, even if they don't buy the Reaper threat, they'd have to presume that they'd be killed anyway shortly after Sovereign consolidates control over the station.

And yet I always ignore the advice of Garrus, LiLi or Wrex, just because even in the neutral option Shepard's too much of a dick about it.  C'mon, say something, even if it's "Sorry, this makes more sense to do."

Yeah, I have to say I agree with Shavon. Joker has already declared his intention to lead the Alliance fleet into the battle to save the Destiny Ascension, so Liara immdidiately reminds Shepard that there are other options available. Liara is fully aware that having the Alliance fleet wade into the battle to save the Ascension will result in pretty heavy losses, so she's just trying to present an alternate plan or option that's available, which is holding back until Sovereign is exposed. It doesn't necessarily mean that she believes that is the right thing to do, which she obviously doesn't, but just that there are other courses of action.

Still, it does look and sound incredibly bizarre to see Liara advocating sacrificing the Council, and shooting Saren's corpse in the head. It's so unlike her!

I just think BW picked Kaidan as the one to always be paragon for that part of the game.
