Hopefully I'll finish the whole picture tomorrow - then it's back to commissions for a while.
Looking great! I like the expression on Liara's face.

I was always more curious about why they decided to scrap the original plan with the reunion in general? Where she becomes the SB. Are they planning something with it later, or did they not like how it turned out in the end, and just decided to get rid of it? I guess the real reason probably won't come to the surface anytime soon.

Has there ever been a discussion about the small difference between a male and female Shepard regarding the scene just before the kiss in ME 2? Liara seems to (begin to) say or whisper something to a female Shepard, that isn't there with a male Shepard. Probably just left over from the "real" reunion scene, forgotten to remove in one instance?

I really, really hope that they just scrapped that whole thing.

It's been discussed and we've came to the conclusion that it has real deep meaning: BW hacked up the scene and forgot to remove that little animation from the FemShep version. I'm assuming they had to make gender-specific versions of that scene, given the height difference between Fem and Dude Shepards.

Whether or not she becomes the SB I still believe we'll have to wait until ME3 for her to join us on the normandy. I think that in the Liara DLC we will deal with the shadow broker, but something (whether or not it's her going through the files) will come up, making us have to wait until ME3.muskettman87 wrote...
I couldn't agree more. Once I heard the audio files I had a bit of a panic attack. I don't think they will use them, to me it looks like they just didn't like the way it was going and scraped it.

Well, there's going to be DLC that bridges the ME2/ME3 story, so this could possibly be where Liara (and Ash/Kaidan) can fit in and they can be reintroduced?

I actually think that allowing the Council to die is not only the smart thing to do, but one that at least two-thirds of the Council would accept without question. If the Alliance runs out of ships to take out Sovereign because they lost them defending the Council, then, even if they don't buy the Reaper threat, they'd have to presume that they'd be killed anyway shortly after Sovereign consolidates control over the station.
As I always say, if the alliance fleet didnt concentrate on saving the council, and saved those ships for sovereign, those ships would be then flanked and decimated by the geth fleet as they turn and help their "god". I definitely side with saving the council as the wiser decision, if not for the immediate tactical benefits, then for the long term power stability.
As for the station control, once Shepard had control, Sovereign could just float there and do nothing. An insider was the lynchpin of the entire plan, without it Sovereign was a sitting duck. Its no coincidence that it reanimated Sarens corpse. As long as Shepard was at the command console the reaper invasion was never going to happen. Some people seem to think Sovereign just sitting there on the spire somehow still risked the relay opening.

I think they figured that the Balak mission was dlc (even if on Pc is now free) and decided not to give it any major role.

I found quite funny that when you meet Liara in ME2 she says the same quote that Benezia in ME1 ("Have you ever faced an asari commando unit? Few humans have"). I don´t know if it was just an easter egg or it may mean something more, but it was definitely curious.

I don't want DLC. I want an expansion. Stupid dial-up. *grumbles*

Where did you get the notion that ME 1 was not centered around the characters? It was, very much so. Of course it was also focused on the main story, which ME 2 was not.
To say "hey, ME 2 is just different, it's focused on the characters" is just an excuse, because story and characters are not mutually exclusive, nor should they be. In fact, there can be a symbiosis. ME 1 came somewhat close to this, ME 2 didn't even try.
