We all know the stats prove that Tali, Garrus and Miri where the most romanced characters, he states that he is surprised so many people went for Miri,

Wouldn't it be worse if he said he wasn't surprised?

No it would not, he implies Miri is just for sex, thats it. As I said you might not understand it but Jib, Nozy and Jib understand why I am pissed off because Casey did this **** to Liara, he has pulled this **** on Miri now. I am so clsoe to driving up to Bioware HQ and beating him with a inch of his life.

This is the same Casey Hudson who said the ME2 squad were "more compelling" than the ME1 squad, so its no surprise he would start listing the ME2 squad in terms of whos "more compelling" than others. Im surprised its taken this long.

well I my self prefer the characters in ME2 simply because of Legion, Miri and Mordin. However at this interview he has lost any resepct from me and fellow Miri fans who did get somethingo ut of her romance and like her because of her personality, not her body.

Hold the press... now i start to connect dots who could give that moronic and sexist interview about FemShep/Jacob romance... (something about comparing femShep to sexually frustrated T-Rex because of two year absence...).

Kraidy, don't take this the wrong way, but you seem to consider this an issue far more serious than it really is.
And frankly, judging by your posts one would think that the Jack thread had murdered your puppy or something.
Such is not the case. Go back and read the very formal and dignified replies again without your bigot hat on.
And it all started because you had a knee-jerk reaction to a gag which has been pulled time and time again on these forums ever since Miranda was first revealed; she has a ridiculous outfit. I can't see anyone actually arguing with that.
I would be surprised if anyone wanted to mock you for appreciating a certain character. That you've found enough common ground with Miranda to deem her your favourite is a great thing.
I can just implore you to stop caring what Hudson had to say on the matter. His opinion do by no means infringe upon yours.

Well I think Jack and Miranda are as uninteresting as eachother, and equally sexualised, so its no skin off my back if he sides with one over the other. Guess he is entitled to his own views of the game anyway. If hes speaking as a player of the game, its really nothing more than any other fan like myself saying they prefer one character over another.

Her outfit fits the character, I have all right, same as all the other miri fans. I find things that state Miri was just for sex appeal very offensive, or that she is simpler. Casey should have said she was not as complex, he did not. He used simpler and then his next words pretty much state that she was just added for sex that's all. Your character was praised, my character was bashed to hell.

The thing is Dink, he is the project manager and what he said implies she was made for just sex. If this was just a critic or  gamer syaing it, it would be offensive but I would't care that much, the point5 that the product manager said this crap did ****** off the miri fanbase, just like when he said that thing about liara. It's common knowledge Casey loves Jack, she is her fav character.

Do you know that there are animals that don´t need males to reproduce, don´t you? I don´t have any problem imagining the asari being an all female race that don´t need any males in their reproduction process.
What is really silly is the concept of asari being "asexual", it doesn´t make any sense from a biological point of view. In my book asari are all female as any other thing doesn´t make any sense (they even have breasts).
What i do concede is that all aliens that are "lovable" (nice word that one) look a lot like humans, probably done so they are more easier on the eyes. Perhaps the only exception is Garrus but he still cool nonetheless. People would hardly romance a krogan...well not too many xD

I was being sarcastic...I'd still get mad at you if you said it again and meant it.

Again sarcasm doesn't go through well on the internet...you should put "*sarcasm" or something.

And just to clear things up, when I said that yesterday I wasn't referring to the people in this thread at all.  You obviously did the romance for other reasons, otherwise you wouldn't still be in this thread.

Such a disclaimer would spoil all the fun, it's the same with irony. You just have to know enough other statements of the poster (jlb in this case) to be able to recongnize if it's irony or not. If you know her opinion on that topic then you get the sarcasm and it's funny. If it was marked somehow as sarcasm it would not be that funny. And if you don't know her opinion about it then I think you are not among those who were adressed with the sarcastic post.:P

On the previously idea of closing the thread. I don't think it's a good idea. Some use the thread for light-hearted discussion and have fun with the pics that are posted and are rather optimistic. For them the thread is a place where they can reminisce over Liara's appearance in ME 1 and share their hopes and thoughts about future Liara with others.

For those who are rather disappointed and fed up with the devs and the ME series and are rather pessimistic about future Liara the thread is nevertheless of importance IMO. As long as they don't plan to abandon the forums they will constantly be remebered about ME 2 Liara. In this thread they can at least express their frustration and disappointment.

And to be honest, I prefer the dicussion that is held at the moment far more interesting and much better than any that are held in the other threads most of the time, where they all have their ME2 romances and are just writing fanfics and have discussions about how awesome their character is and how superior the romance is written compared to others 24/7. Sometimes the other threads are almost narcisstic. I prefer this thread a 100% over the others, even with the flaws in the writing of  the character of Liara.

Edit: spelling and layout issues

Let's not forget that this thread is about Liara.

I have to say though, from all the ME 2 companions, Miranda is the only romance I care about. I would be surprised if a big part of players would not think the same. Yeah, her outfit is a bit in-your-face, but so what. I have no doubt that this was another thing that was done to appeal to a new kind of audience, to make the game more "immediate", as Mr. Woo put it. Yet she'd still be the only interesting LI in ME 2 for me if she wore a bit more modest clothes.

I have only done Miranda's romance in ME2
2 femsheps - stayed loyal to Liara
1 maleshep - no romance in ME1/Miranda in ME2

Liara is the only character I'll ever romance. Seriously!

Even with a single Shepard, I'll never romance another character. The Paramour achievement will always be greyed out for me in ME2. That is, unless they give us the opportunity to acquire it in ME2 via the Liara DLC, of course!

The achievement is greyed out on mine as well. The photo is one thing I did like about the ME2 romance dynamics. I'd feel terrible making it go face down.

If I wasn't such an acheivment farmer I'd have the paramour greyed out as well.In my defence I never cheated (it was a default playthough with no romance). Still makes me feel like a douche.Image IPB

Which interview was it? The Overlord one? Funny that Miranda is the only ME2 romance I´m planning. See Tali as a little sister figure and though I really like Jack romancing her feels like abusing a really damaged person whther it helps her or not. Pity there´s not good frineds option as in DA.

Edit: found the interview. He just says he thinks Miri is simpler than Jack. People are reading too much between lines (or I´m not reading enough).

Heh, the Liara photo is another thing that affected the way in which I played ME2. Because I didn't want to accidentally and unknowingly flirt with any ME2 LI and inadvertedly trigger a romance, I pretty much avoided talking to the ME2 LIs. The reason? So I didn't have to see Liara's photo flipped face down. It was hard enough not having her there in ME2, but seeing her photo face down would have probably crushed me. :crying:

The only character who has dialog after her personal mission that adds to her character is Miri, and she is also the one which is easy to stop getting into a romance with too if you don't flirt with her.

But is she simpler? I wouldn't exactly call Jack "complicated" either. Her character as such certainly is, but in-game? Letting characters scream insults doesn't add depth. And her "redemption" in the end feels very artificial and shallow too in my opinion. Those are interesting concepts, but if you don't invest the effort to make it real (primarily through more dialogue), it's better to stick with the simpler characters. But maybe that's just me, apparently many people found the characters in ME 2 detailed and believable. Mr. Hudson certainly seems to believe that. Well, whatever.

I do wonder though what would happen if one of those interviewers would dare to ask a critical question some day...
