I can't take screenshots! I wish I could, then I can prove to you that Liara does have differing facial expressions in ME2 depending on if she were romanced or not!

On youtube you can find the videos. She smiles more if you romanced her.

Liara has a lot of emotions to her, its nice to see. Her Body language, facial expressions, Eye contact, gestures she makes, tones of her voice. Its all well done and matches her personality well. Was an instant connection to her.

Exactly, the dialog leading to it is the best option we have to comfort her, well, that they have given us anyway.
