Something that would be awesome in ME3:
Spacer Shepards take Liara to meet Hannah.
"Hey Mom. This is Dr Liara T'Soni, my bondmate."
haha that would be cool!

The rape attempts on Liara in Redemption were pretty appalling, I thought.

Nah, Liara could kick their asses, that line was just the herald of some entertaining and well-deserved fight sequences.
Just the writer's way of saying, "SOMEONE'S ABOUT TO GET A BIOTIC SMACKDOWN!!"

Oh yeah, I'm not doubting at all that Liara could kick their asses. She's so awesome and strong, she can take care of herself.
My beef is with the fact that it seems forced and contrived, and a silly way in which they can show that the galaxy is "edgy", that Liara is tough, that she's all grown up now.

I don't really see it as making the comic more edgy, since a scene like that is in MILLIONS of movies, comics, and cartoon, that it feels as harmless as a Saturday morning cartoon.

True, but that doesn't make it seem any less pointless, contrived and ridiculous. What purpose does it serve in the storyline? How does it affect Liara at all, other than give another reason for more biotic action scenes?

It's more to serve as "Ooh, look, this is the hero of the story! Watch as she kicks ass!" to the people that aren't Mass Effect fans, and to see her in action. Which is a copy/paste mechanic used way too many times, like a sex scene in an action movie, which is meant to show that these people are deeply in love, despite only knowing each other for one day, and have nothing in common.

Well, what if Garrus was the hero of Redemption? Would they add a rape attempt an issue to show he's a bada** hero?

I'm sorry Les, I really am - but to be honest that's too much reading into it, even for me.
I think I'm finally facing facts that the character has been butchered.
The thing with Liara's pupils is just speculation, I agree. They've probably made them smaller in order to make her look less physically appealing.
But, Liara's guilt and emotional pain is very much present, however. That can't be denied, nor can the fact that she hates working as an information broker. I agree that Liara's ME2 scenes need exposition and elaboration, but what's there is there.

Okay, hang a tic.
THIS is the problem, I saw that line and I REGAINED HOPE, and MDK loses it all.
I really don't know what to say. I have no clue what it is about those words that says 'butchered' to me. I see someone who knows what she needs to do and knows that it has to happen.

*Mega-quote snip
She has to killed an information broker by becoming an information broker, in order to avenge some dude she's known for 2 days, who's probably dead? And this is more important then being with your once dead lover, who's now going on a suicide mission, where he/she can actually die?
I quote my Shepard:
"You've been doing this for 2 years? Liara, THAT'S INSANE!?!"
