Oh yeah, I'm not doubting at all that Liara could kick their asses. She's so awesome and strong, she can take care of herself.

My beef is with the fact that it seems forced and contrived, and a silly way in which they can show that the galaxy is "edgy", that Liara is tough, that she's all grown up now.

I don't really see it as making the comic more edgy, since a scene like that is in MILLIONS of movies, comics, and cartoon, that it feels as harmless as a Saturday morning cartoon.

If they really wanted to make it edgy, I know better way to do it. It's to the point where I've been thinking of re-writing Redemption the way I think it should have been in a Fan Fic, but I'm too lazy and too poor of a writer to do it.

I think if there is a silver lining to the comics, its that its commercial success proves to BW that there is somewhat a demand for Liara. If thats the case BW would be crazy not to see it as a reason to make Liara/SB content.

True, but that doesn't make it seem any less pointless, contrived and ridiculous. What purpose does it serve in the storyline? How does it affect Liara at all, other than give another reason for more biotic action scenes?

It's more to serve as "Ooh, look, this is the hero of the story! Watch as she kicks ass!" to the people that aren't Mass Effect fans, and to see her in action. Which is a copy/paste mechanic used way too many times, like a sex scene in an action movie, which is meant to show that these people are deeply in love, despite only knowing each other for one day, and have nothing in common.

Also, I just realized another plothole. How was Miranda and TIM's Cerberus soldiers not qualified to get Shepard's body from the Shadow Broker, after looking at the events that happened? Because she has a personal motive, and beats the **** out of people?

No, more like something as badly written as "Hey, just so you know... We don't like C-Sec officers... especially the HUMAN loving type.. hah, hah, hah... So, we're going to charge yeah a little extra... or we can do this the HARD way. Hah, Hah, Hah..."<_<

Considering how they handled the rest of the comic I think that Garrus would be introduced as a badass hero by saving a poor helpless Asari from a rape attempt. That would be really great writing and not at all cheesy and stupid..

Sorry if it seems like I might have missed the meaning of some of the above. I did some guess work. One part is talking about her pupils, another part is talking about a line, and another part is about losing hope, etc. I did a guess.

I forgot, you haven't been around a lot (in the crazy discussions that I've participated in).  I've discounted this as the primary motivation purely because it's insane, and said so on a few occasions.  The stated reasons are "for what he did to my friend, what he tried to do with you, and whatever he's doing with the Collectors".

I keep saying that the only thing that makes sense is that she knows something serious about the latter.  (I know, this game doesn't always try too hard to make sense.  ... Not even making with the "but", that's a flaw in the writing that bugs the snot out of me, and I'm not the only one.)  As I've heard -- I'd just downloaded Kasumi before a series of events conspired to convince me to let the disc rest for a while, so I haven't played her missions yet -- there's supposedly striking evidence that Reaper influence is stretching even ... since this is a before/after mission, I'll presume this is valid ... even after the defeat of the Collectors. 

Now I haven't seen or heard of evidence linking this with the SB, but it's entirely possible, plausible, and -- this is key to my mind -- so easy to make the connection it writes itself.  This is key, of course, because Mac needs all the help he can get in story writing.  (Yeah.  I went there.  See 'there'?  See me over there waving? )
