And those "human chicks" will lose any of their subtlety or nuance. Ash will be Ripley-lite, Miranda will be just a hot spy for the boys to drool over. Jack will be a one-note psycho. Tali will probably be cut altogether.

Ash feels more like Vasquez (and Vasquez always dies...). Being a Ripley-lite would be a good thing if we leave it in Aliens.

I would say that IF Drew Karpyshyn will write scenario then could be about 80% chance that such movie could be good.



And Cameron proves that whit little effort is possible to made decent movie (however i expect that Avatar 2 and 3 will turn in really blood bath because humanity doesn't like to be on the loosing side) and i doubt that creators will finish ME movie before releasing of the final part of the game.



I think summer 2013 or 2014 could be earliest possible date of premiere (heck avatar one takes three years to made) so no risk of colliding whit game content anyway, however creating movie based on games like ME IS really Heavy Risk since each games can have many possible outcomes so "reviews" in style "WTF???" could become too common among possible gaming audience, making the Priiiize (Oscar?) rather questionable..

Just imagine: The heroine and her blue alien - "female looking" - love save the galaxy. The scandal! I bet it would be a major success though...

Not going to happen though, just as the female priiizes in such a movie are never going to cover their faces with helmets or anything. Not in a Western movie, anyway. This can only fly in video games.

Yeah, something tells me this movie is going to be targeted toward teenagers of very little sophistication. And it's hard to adapt games to film because they're such different mediums. I'm sitting here thinking what I would do if asked to adapt it. I'm pretty sure I'd be tarred and feathered by the fanbase. And I actually give a rip about the source. Although I would make Liara Shepard's LI for the simple reason that she's connected to the villains through Benezia.

Maybe they use same technique to create Asari as Cameron used to create Na'Vi?

I think they would have to use cgi to incorporate Liara into the movie if she was in the cast , but we can only hope

I hope no one is cast to play Liara, as I hope she's not in the movie! I don't want them to destroy my favorite ME character more than they've already have.

Maybe we can. Id say reaction so far has been pretty mixed about the movie, and heck of a lot of folks want to see Biowhore continue to uphold that "the side fiction doesnt interfere with the games fiction" rule.



Remember when the comic was announced, people did the same? Hopefully it will be like Redemption, and just be a crappy side story all on its own, without further ruining the crappy state of Mass Effect as is.

Mine neither, and actually I don't care whatever they do. I also didn't buy the comics, and couldn't care less. The problem is that the existance of the comics had a major (bad) influence on Liara's appearance in ME 2. As long as that doesn't happen with the movie, I couldn't care less about that as well.

If I had to bet money, I would say the movie would come out either right around ME3 release or some time after.  I doubt the movie would have any affect on Liara's character in any Shepard centric game.

yeah they have the potential to cause a lot of harm if they made a movie. There is a lot they would have to take into consideration when making the film plus as others have said all the many choices that you can make into the game could cause an issue. Would they follow the paragon or renegade side, more than likely paragon. It's exciting to know they may be making a movie of Mass Effect though I would rather them not and just keep it as the games. I don't want to see any of the characters or story from the games ruined over it, really not worth it. If they really want to make a movie over a video game they should go back to the idea of turning Halo trilogy into a movie and leave Mass Effect as is in the games.
