Every squadmate could use every kind of weapon, they just werent effective with some of them depending on the squadmate. Also Liara didn't have any weapon training in her skillset in ME1.

To be honest, I don't think Liara suits armour and/or guns in general (though you gotta love the redemption armour)...it'd be pretty sick if all she ever needed was her biotics!

Well, she's an adept, so she's great with a pistol. Not sure about an assault rifle, but it would be cool if she was the one character that could use Revenant.

Personally, I thought the Redemption armor was kind of ridiculous. But I loved her boots. They were hot!
