That wouldnt be very fair to all the other fans that romanced other LI's.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...
I have actually theorised that they could guarantee Liara surivives ME3 as she is the one possible remaining character link to the original trilogy if they decide to then release games set hundreds of years after the events of ME3. Liara could appear in those games as a Matriarch, and provide references and a link to the original trilogy, and Shepard's story. Hey, maybe they'll allow us to import a file if she was romanced, and Liara will speak fondly of Shepard and that she misses Shep so much. Would be pretty nice, and very moving!
Support Liara T'Soni for ME3 - Squadmate and LI

I hope that Liara and Shepard will start a family together in one of the best possible Liara romance epilogues in ME3 for staying faithful to her throughout the trilogy.

It would be funny, in an ironic way, if Shepard cannot have children with Liara (which makes sense) as an asari is the only non-human LI Shepard could have children with.

I don't know, is it ever actually stated in the codex that asari can only have children whilst in the matron stage or older? I know it says that Matron asari have "strong biological urges" to "settle down and start families", but that doesn't necessarily preclude an asari maiden from having children. The codex does state that there are exceptions to the social norm regarding the asari's life stages.
I think Liara could have children with Shepard whilst in the maiden stage, if she wanted.

Ok, thanks!
Ah, Senor Woo had stated this before with the linking. I would propose that we will just post the links to the deviantpage and not to single pics. The page itself has a filter so that no NSFWs can be seen, only after logging in and clicking on certain buttons which remove the filter. I think this would be allright then?

the codex like you said states that there are exceptions to the social norm regarding asari stages. So more than likely she could if thats what she wanted.

I think Liara can get pregnate, but it's more like "getting pregnate at 18". And unless Liara has help, I'm not sure if she's ready to be a parent.

A very old Shepard would be able to have a child with Liara, but will not get to spend any time with it...may even die before the child is born. So sad.

Yes, the Liara romance is very tragic, if you think of it that way, which is why the Shepard I role-play is hesitant on entering into a full-on 'romance' with Liara (I RP that their relationship was on the rocks prior to the Normandy's destruction, for this reason and other ones having to do with my Shepard's past).

Liara appears to be the asari equivalent of 18-19, so that plays into it as well for me. If Shepard and Liara remain together for the rest of Shepard's life, I could see her asking an elderly Shepard to mate with her for the purpose of reproduction so part of Shep will live on. The inherent tragedy is part of the appeal of Liara/human for me. She ages much more slowly than Shep/Miranda/take your pick. She won't grow old with them. If she stays, she's doomed to watch them die. And yet, she decides the pain is worth ot because she loves them. That's romance.
yeah and she evens states how Asari view relationships with ppl with shorter lifespans. They love and care for their partner and remember the good times with them that they shared together during their relationship. Instead of looking at the fact knowing they will more than likely live longer than their partner they spend their time with them and focus on forming memories and a loving relationship so that when the person does die they can look back on it and remember their friend.

Going back to what jtav said about the differing lifespans between Shepard and Liara, that's another thing that is pretty interesting about the Shepard/Liara romance. What will ultimately be a very moving and bittersweet end to their time together. Liara is still willing to enter into a relationship with Shepard, despite the fact that by the time Shepard passes away and leaves her behind, she'll still have hundreds of years left to live. And yet, she's still willing to have Shepard be her partner, lover and bondmate because she means that much to her. Very. very touching.
Reminds me of Highlander and the Queen song Who Wants to Live Forever?

I think it works differently with asari than it does with humans. Humans can get pregnant before society considers them to be 'adults'. I think it's the opposite with asari...asari are considered 'adults' in their society even before they can conceive a child (matron stage). I think it's very strict that an asari cannot get pregnant unless she hits this specific stage (the codex says this, I believe). Liara still has a few hundred years.
