Aye. Could never ever cheat on Liara. But still I have these small ideas for how the farewell dialog could be with Liara, after you dealt with the shadow broker or whatever other threat there is.

IF LIARA WAS NOT YOUR LI:
Shepard walks out of the briefing room where Liara waits outside. She personally thanks Shepard for what he have done to help her and promise to be back on the Normandy again once she finished some buisness on Illium. Before she leaves Shepard can get the option to ask why she sacrificed so much for him. To which she respond that she will always have feelings for him no matter what.
If shepard does not have an LI, you get the option to say your interested in her.

I'll post the other ideas if you liked this one, else i just shut up and go back to my corner!

thats actually really good if she wasnt your LI and all and would give others a chance to make her their LI if they didn't before and didnt cheat on her ^_^

I really, really like an idea similar to this. If Liara is available to romance for new Shepards in ME3, then the whole idea of Shepard at last reciprocating Liara's love is very compelling, I feel. Shepard rejects Liara in ME1, but knows that she still holds romantic feelings. Then, after seeing everything she's done for her, all of her suffering and how much she means to Liara, Shepard at last wakes up and reciprocates Liara's love, and takes her into her arms.

From Liara's perspective, how sweet and emotional would that be? The person who means the absolute universe to you, at last returning your love. Very, very moving.

I just don't feel the same guilt for "cheating" as most of you. Mostly because I have a limit on how many times I'm willing to replay ME just so I can remain single. The fact that two of my 360s have been RRODed since 2007 doesn't help. Does that make me a bad person? Although this time I'm doing it for fic research.

I have a Shepard (who stayed single throughout ME1 and ME2) ready to go just in case we can do this!  It would be so AWESOME!!

I would make a single Shepard just so I can see how the romance plays out if you can finally get together in ME3. I just hope they don't completely start over for the players that romanced her in ME1 and stayed faithful in 2. :(

No, it's fine *runs*

'Cheating' probably isn't the proper word as the relationship is 'off' after Shepard died.  Now if Shepard didn't die and the ME1 LIs were still on the Normandy and clearly in a relationship with Shep, then it would be cheating.

In the current situation, I see it as Shepard 'moving on' if desired after growing apart (via death) from the old LI.  My Shepard just hasn't moved on.  I actually think Liara would expect Shepard to move on to someone else, given her guilt over handing Shepard's body to Cerberus, and the fact that she can't come along due to the SB thing.

I agree...I hope there is a difference between the two if they do give a non-Liara romanced Shep the opportunity to romance her in ME3.  The relationship history would be different, and the dialgo would hopefully reflect that.

which would make it all the better when you do stay loyal and when in ME3 you get back together with her and she is all happy! fully expecting you to move on but you stayed loyal and in love with her!

Nah, it's fine. Truthfully, cheating in the ME series is something that has and will never cross my mind as I will only ever romance Liara, and I will never cheat on her. Naturally, it's something that I've never thought about.

Like J said, though, Liara expects and is fearful of Shepard hating her, and moving on from her. If Shepard were to trash her, then it would absolute crush her, IMO. All of Liara's fears, all of the reasons for her self-loathing have come to fruition. She'd be absolutely distraught.

Indeed. They can't realistically have a uniform Liara romance in ME3 that is both used for Shepards who have remained faithful to her from ME1, and those who are just starting the romance in ME3. The dynamics and circumstances surround the romances would be different, and both Shepard and Liara's dialogue would need to be different to reflect that.

couldn't imagine the "pain" that would make her feel. Everything she cared about and loved lost. Could never do that to poor Liara. She had done a lot for Shepard and while all other team members went their own ways she was the only one to stay behind and try to put things back together. She showed a lot of love towards Shepard even if she wasnt your LI. Goes to show that if she wasnt your LI and she could be in ME3 would be really neat to see what she would have to say. However I will always remain loyal to Liara ^_^

for BW to do this right they have a lot of work to do! Liara is just one of the many romances!

I remain very hopeful and confident that Liara's character and romance will receive alot of development time, resources and attention dedicated to it as she's the only character 100% guaranteed to be alive in ME3.

Ashley and Kaidan are exactly the same to a certain extent, as they both occupy the same position in the story and one of them are also 100% guaranteed to be alive in ME3.

yes very true. I somehow don't see them killing off much of the remaining team members from ME2 as well since this will be the closing game of the trilogy. With that same thought you would be right as well in the fact Liara's romance will receive a lot of BW's attention along with Ashley's and Kaidan's. ME3 will have to be very creative! I'm very excited and hopeful they will get Liara's LI ending done right! ^_^

Could be cool, Would be interesting to get her to play in your team for one mission. Perhaps like how the Kasumi mission played, just you and her.

That's what I'm hoping for too. Liara would be a temporary squadmate in her DLC mission. I'd absolutely love that.

Wouldn't it be awesome if he quoted my post, and said "Don't worry my friend. You've got all that coming up, plus more! ;)"

Ahhhh. I can dream, can't I? Regardless, I still think we're going to get a really epic and emotional romance rekindling scene with Liara. I can't wait!

Hmmm, the Redemption compilation is released not long before E3, correct? Possibility of the Liara DLC or xPac being announced at E3 soon after as a means of tying into the release?

Well Illium is next on my list of mission hubs so I'll try and get some Liara shots in my gallery.
