Here, jtav. Have a read of ratzerman's excellent Shepard/Liara fanfic, "Rise Above or Sink Below". It's currently unfinished, but what is there is excellent, and very emotional, powerful, moving and romantic. Liara's characterisation is spot on, and ratz is an excellent writer. Enjoy!

Also, I think people here quite like the idea and premise behind your Liara/Miranda fic. It's very interesting to see how Liara, a character we all love, enter into a relationship and find herself in a situation alot of us have never really considered. From what I've seen, I think you're doing a great job!

You should read some of Kane Lam's stuff, here.

Definitely not fluffy....dark stuff but very good.

Gonna ease myself back into the thread here...

Thanks for the praise - considering it was written in about 30 minutes :unsure:

If the first few chapters seem rushed/fast moving, it's more because I want to get it to a certain point before I really get to the meaty stuff, but at the same time I'd prefer to take the reader to that point via showing them rather than just explaining it all in a few paragraphs.

So for those who think it's lacking in description - don't worry, there'll be lots of examinations of Liara's psyche and where she's at later in the fic...

I do like that people are still creating alot of fanfiction featuring Liara, in spite of her small cameo in ME2. It's testament to the size and passion of her fanbase, in my opinion.



Can't wait for more Liara content!

Hehe, in actual fact this fic is based partially on artwork ideas I have/have been given.

I wanted to find a way to include every idea and suggestion in one single canon, and after a bit of planning I've found a way to get this to work.

There's a few ideas I had to discard because they would affect too many other plotlines I wanted to do.

For example, one idea that I came very close to including was that Liara did actually have Shepard's child in between the two games, and Shepard meets the child without knowing her heritage.

But a) I didn't want to have to deal with the whole "did Liara do it on purpose" thing and B) I really wanted to feature the birth of their first child in the canon.

Plus if Shepard finds out that Liara didn't tell her about a child, while still angry about Liara not coming along, I imagine Freya would probably attack her or something; again - an idea I had, but discarded.

I want the birth of Shepard and Liara's first daughter to be a joyous, memorable, emotional and happy event. If Liara gave birth to their daughter in the time between the events of ME1 & 2, then it would be shrouded in secrecy and deception. Plus, like you said, you're opening up the whole can of worms as to whether it's in Liara's character, and the whole situation and debate as to how asari conceive their children.



Yeah, I want the birth of their child to be a very happy occasion, something that both of them make a conscious decision to do. Any possible scene if it were ever featured in-game would be so sweet!

Don't worry, there's going to be a whole fic devoted to their child being born ;)

Of course, there's some pretty tough stuff to come first...
