I don't actually think that would be applicable with all Shepards. It depends upon the extent of their romance. If Liara and Shepard became bondmates and had children together, enjoying a deep and powerful bond together, then I can't actually see Liara moving on and may honour Shepard's life through their children, and taking up a powerful and influential position in asari society in order to remember her deceased bondmate by.

Like I said, though. It depends upon the extent of the romance, and it's depth.

I'd hate it if Liara didn't move on after Shep's death after a suitable grieving period. I want her to be happy, and the idea of her spending centuries alone and in mourning bothers me.

I don't think it matters how deep the bond was or how many children they have...do you want her to be alone and unhappy, continually mourning Shepard for 900 years?

Well frankly I want an epilogue that is more then a textbox with an "at least for a time...." at the end that and no lame heroic sacrifice ending for Shepard beyond that well I dont know if I care since as I see it all characters will get dropped should they ever make an ME4

If I may be so blunt, Shepard is Liara's teenage crush.

- She'll get over it. Even though they have endured more extreme trials than your average pubescent couple...

The "you can only ever really love one person in your life" trope needs to die. I don't see any reason why Liara wouldn't move on if she found the right person.

What I said doesn't necessarily mean that Liara is mourning or unhappy. She's just remembering Shepard, and honouring her memory.

For example, I could see Liara doing something like ascending to a powerful and influential position in asari society, and then trying to influence asari culture and psyche into adopting the very human trait of accomplishing things at a much faster rate, rather than being ponderous and conservative in their approach to certain situations. Things that Liara would view as a virtue of humanity after spending so much time with them.

There are many constructive and happy ways in which Liara could remember Shepard by!

Right, but that doesn't mean she can't or won't move on to someone else either.

I don't think at all that it should be determined at the end of ME 3 what will happen with Liara and Shepard. And I also don't like the idea that Liara should honor Shepard by staying alone for the rest of her life. That is a selfish point of view which really only focuses on Shepard and not at all on Liara. She should do whatever it takes to make her happy.

Yeah, you're right. It is very selfish to not expect her to move on, but what I'm wondering is if it's in Liara's character to, especially with the content of her romance in ME1. I got the distinct impression that, what with how Liara never desired a relationship prior to meeting Shepard, the way in which she describes the meld and how much it means to her, and Liara's romance in general. It gave me the impression that Shepard is the person that means the absolute galaxy to her, the first and only time she's ever felt something like that for another. Just wondering if it's in Liara's character to move on, that's all.

But like you said, she probably will. You can't stay alone for centuries.

That's why the romance is tragic...it's not a 'we will love only each other until we grow old and die together' type of romance....Shepard will die way before Liara and she will move on to another eventually. She might only move on to one other person, maybe another asari so she doesn't have to deal with losing someone again from a short-lived species, but I expect her to do so.

Well there has to be a conclusion to the romance in ME3 in some way,as I said I hope for more then textboxes, since this is the end for those characters how far they would go with that no idea

Though I'm fearing that Shepard might not live to see the ending, also they might role with standart epilogues for the characters about how they did go on to be the bestest people ever at what they are doing or something

Going by that thinking, how would you feel if what some people theorise could happen, that Shepard's lifespan could be extended dramatically through the cybernetic implants, and that Shepard and Liara could actually spend centuries together? Would that ruin a very interesting dynamic to their romance for you? Would you not like it if Shepard's lifespan were extended like that?

Don't expect much for the mE and ME2 LI in ME3. After the last interview with Casey, expect ME3 to suck big time.

I'm hoping they leave the endings all open to interpretation...if someone wants to believe Liara just sits around mourning Shepard for 900 years and doesn't ever move on, that's fine. If someone wants 12 asari babies and to live together in a sprawling Thessian estate, that's fine. If someone wants 0 asari babies, that's fine.

I think Shepard's lifespan will be extended, but I don't think it can come close to rivaling Liara's.  Even if Shepard can extend her life by 200 years, we are still talking 700 years of Liara living after Shepard's death.

I don't think so, Shepard was made to defeat the Collectors and if he
survived, the Reapers, he was not made like say Grunt or miri who will
live a VERY long time, Shepard won't, in fact his/her life will be shorter then most humans.
