They have a military just like we do, just not all of them serve. Their main advantage though is in the strength of their biotics, which comes natural to Asari.

Sounds more like asari can get training in biotics outside of specific military training, and such training is the requirement to get into the military.
It also sounds like asari have varying degrees of aptitude for biotics. Whereas humans strength in biotics still seems dictated by their L1-L5 implants, it would appear some asari can have a natural talent for biotics while others would need to train harder to achieve the same success. And perhaps still not achieve success as a strong biotic in spite of all the training in the world.
The fact the Codex says biotics are "common enough" and that "lack of biotic talent" can exclude an asari from the military also makes me think that there are asari with either an extremely weak affinity for biotics or no biotic ability at all. I suspect that it is rare. I suspect they might meet with a harsh social stigma because of it. And, if their biotic talent had been tied to their evolution on Thessia, I suspect loss of biotic ability will continue to grow as they colonize ever further from their homeworld.

If my theory about Asari evolution and natural biotic ability is correct, the ability to "reactivate" biotic proficiency might be possible. It makes sense that certain Asari from certain parts of Thessia might have more eezo present in their bodies, if eezo is spread unevenly across Thessia.
Also, if the Asari can get training in biotics outside of military training, and if they don't want to have to do military service, it seems like an easy way out to just receive no biotic training at all. That would be a major loophole...

Yeah, you're right. It is very selfish to not expect her to move on, but what I'm wondering is if it's in Liara's character to, especially with the content of her romance in ME1. I agree that it isn't in her personality just to "move on" isn't that a human thing..
Also she spend just over a century being alone & not until she meet Shepard did she realise that is who she wanted to be with.

I do wonder, and if I'm perfectly honest hope, that biotic potential in the asari is hereditary. If that were the case, then Liara would have inherited incredible biotic talent from Benezia. Add that to how Liara has had to train and hone her biotics for self defence, due to working on remote and hostile digsites, that's why I think that Liara is precociously talented and powerful with her biotics.

My first runthrough of Mass Effect had me getting with Liara, and I decided not to pursue a relationship (other than Kelly) in my ME2 file for the same character, just to see what happens in the rare event that you don't cheat on your ME1 LI.

Well on the Simarilion,I have to say it drives you crazy also I remember the story,I think the elves name was Luthien or something and I think Elrond and Arwen had some relation to her which enabled Arwen to make the choice she made but enough of that
When it comes to asari military,the way I see it from the wiki they dont seem to have a drafted army,since organising units is up to each community or city,when it comes to Commandos I would say of course you need some talent to train as one
When it comes to Liara I would say aside from her natural biotics she has no military training of course there is always the possibility to retcon that or say she had some super special commando training inbetween the games
Although I would be carefull not trying to cram to much into her lifespan,sometimes it really sounds like people think she was trained to fight with biotics 24/7 since she was an embryo
Also do we really know how powerfull Benezia was when it comes to biotics,sure matriachs seem to get a boost but we dont know what level she was on,her bossfight really didnt give much insight to that,also bear in mind powerful biotics does not equal political power
Also Benezia was not the empress of the asari,I would say there were others on her level with equally talented daughters,besides that I wonder while prominent how accepted she really was since she stood for politics that seemed to differ from the standart asari ones,joining Saren made that evident,I think she tried to influence him in a way that would work in her favor or at least the asaris,of course no one knew Sovereigns nature by then

It would be great to be able to determine the nature of the romance epilogue through dialogue with Liara in-game. You can express the desire to either continue fighting the good fight with her, and travelling the galaxy righting wrongs, or you can settle down with her and live out your life in each other's arms, at peace. The epilogue would then reflect that choice.
