That actually makes me wonder: Are we going to see any females of other species in ME3, i.e. Turian, Krogan, Drell and Salarians. Casey Hudson said somewhere that it's not impossible we already have without knowing it, but that's a bit of a throwaway answer. I'd like to see the game getting in-depth about all the races, such as visiting more home planets like Thessia.

I think well see a female turian but im not sure about the other races. I wouldn't get my hopes up on the drell because they seem to be so few.Spornicus wrote...
That's true, the drell were modeled around Thane, a specific LI.

To view the matter from another perspective, I'd like to know what Asari think about Asari relationships with human males, since they're not quite as similar to Asari as human females. Some people on the forums think that the Asari are attracted to a person's mind first, however, and his/her body second. Thus, Asari form their first impressions of a person by judging his/her mind first.
I'd imagine the asari would view bonding with a male human to be something more "exotic" than bonding with a female human. It'd be like they're pairing up with an altered version of their own species, as opposed to be virtually identical to human females.
I do like the idea of the asari judging potential partners by their minds, however. As they are able to mate with any race, I'd imagine physical attractiveness may not be that important to them.

The whole mind-melding thing must give them better insight on a person's mind, and that's how they mate, so it would make sense that they would look for a partner with a certain type of mind.
Yep, and because the apex of an asari's sexuality is mental, rather than physical, a strong and powerful mind is something more desirable, rather than physical attractiveness.

To more conservative species, this erroneously makes it seem like the asari are over sexualised.

Anyway, the Asari a fan service race? Where'd that notion come from? How's that even possible when there were no fans prior to ME 1? If you mean that they could have been designed to appeal to male players, well, that might just be the case. If so, their designers did a great job with it. I still wonder what so many seem to see in the Quarians of all sorts though, but that's better left for another thread, or rather not discussed at all.
Oh, and the Drell are supposed to be visually appealing to women? Like, really? Is there any kind of number to measure the success of that idea?

It was in a developer interview, they designed Thane to be appealing and attractive to heterosexual women. All drell are virtually identical to Thane, ergo they're the male alien fanservice race.

More on topic, the asari certainly are from the same tradition as the Green Skin Space Babe, even if they're blue. They can mate with anyone and are very open about they're sexuality. They frequently dress in provacative clothes. Don't forget the "girl on girl" aspect (without anything so troubling as actual lesbians--can't alienate the teen boys). So, yes they're fanservice. So's Miranda. Doesn't mean there isn't more to them.

If you think about it, human females and males aren't all that different in appearance, when compared to a turian, for example. I don't see them preferring one gender human over the other, really. We humans treat our own minor sex differences as a big deal, but I doubt the asari would do so.
I do see an individual asari possibly preferring humans to, elcor for example, as humans are closer to them in appearance. Or, an asari might prefer the elcor b/c they are more 'exotic' than the human.

Exactly. The fact that the asari are fanservice doesn't bother me at all. Like you said jtav, it isn't necessarily a bad thing or makes the asari bad.

There's nothing wrong with fan service, in my mind, as long as there is more to it.. there's definitely more to the asari race than mere 'space babes'.
