Anyways, the fact that Liara doesn't react to Miranda, nor express any romance dialogue, nor react to Garrus or Tali, nor mention Feron by name, nor does Shepard ever wonder why TIM said she was working for the Shadow Broker, really makes me believe everything involving Liara was thought up last minute. That they just didn't know what to do with her, and kept changing her till late in the game.
I have the theory that more or less the whole story was planned quite differently, but at some point significant changes were made. The only question is, for what reason. It can only be time constraints, or that the people in charge imposed some restrictions on the writers. Effectively it was probably a combination of both, time constraints and writers having their hands tied.
Maybe the writing staff was told not to acknowledge anything in the comic series, I could understand that but the lack of former squad interaction was a huge sorespot for me, 'stand alone game' ? If so then they went too far and simply gave me the impression that the squad is either suffering from some memory deficit, or pissed off about something or the writers just dropped the ball. This all makes me wonder if juggling a comic book and an RPG produces this kind of disconnect then what will a comic, an RPG, a movie and a multiplayer platforn produce ?
I was kind of excited after finding on the Collector ship mission that the Collectors were in fact genitically modified Protheans and one of my first thoughts was to go and inform Liara but that turned out to be a disappointment as did all of the other shortcomings from the writers. Too bad they weren't more creative with story lines, dialogue and character development. They're missing a whole lot of opporunities to achieve really awesome
