Liara does wish a Happy Birthday to a fan of hers and Liara Thread regular known as 'LesEnfantsTerribles'

She wants to give you a kiss...and is pretending it's you there instead of Shepard.

She is thinking about how much you love her...

This makes her happy!

Morning. Miranda fans shot on sight? *dodges gunfire*

I am going to spend my birthday basking in my newfound love of Liara and watching Farscape. Possibly working on my Liara/Miranda fic as well if my sore throat gets better.

Ah, Farscape. Great show (wonder if Zhaan was the inspiration for the Asari).

"pounds fist"!

Seems like a long time since you last posted here! ^_^ Have any fanart in progress?

You noticed? Yeah, it's been a while. I thought I'd had it with this thread --however, it seems to have come back from where it was-- and I only recently got back from a trip out to Indiana where I had no access to the internet whatsoever.

And yes, I most certainly do have something in the works. Something I've been wanting to do for a while. *is mysterious* Image IPB

Wait? Did you quit this thread? Why?

But anyway, looking foward to see your next work. Always enjoyed them.

And if you screw up. I'll take a trip in my longboat and sail to the US, then I pillage your house!

Happy Birthday, LET!

Indigo, there was a joke a few pages back about Miranda fans being shot on sight. I'm planning on romancing Tali this time, so I'll let you know if you have to worry about Talindoctrination. Re-romancing Liara gave me a whole new love for her character, so who knows?

Yeah, it's hard to leave Liara if you play ME1 and ME2 back to back (though Tali is very hard to pass up. Or in my case, nearly impossible. My current Male Shep has her romance untouched till Liara's DLC comes out). It was easier the first time because it was 2 years later, and I barely remembered her.

Hmm, I don't think she's sleeping much. Probably isn't eating much either, and has lost some weight.

Well I'm cheating, but that has more to do with not wanting to replay with the exact same Shep just to stay faithful. I have my limits. I might run another FemShep, romance Liara, and stay faithful. The only FemShep romance I haven't played yet is Jacob's, which is, well, Jacob's. For this playthrough, I'm pretending Liara is over Shepard (the kiss is somewhat perfunctory, I understand) and he senses that.

Well, as much I like to try different options, I always try to play me based on how I currently feel. Thus, I only have 1 Male Shepard, which I keep replaying. I only slightly role play with my Fem Shep, because I'm a guy and not a girl. But I still try to play her as if she was just the female version of me. Thus, I'll never do a Miranda/Jack/Jacob/Kelly/Thane/Kaidan/Ash romance.

Right now, I currently feel like not romancing anyone, including Liara, until her DLC comes out, because I feel like I'm just going to get burnt no matter what. Example, I don't like the current Liara, and love Tali, but then there's the "What if?" that keeps screwing with me. Like what if the roles reverse, and I start liking ME3 Liara, and the ME3 Tali starts treating me like ****.

Don't know about the Asari in general but I see similiarities with Samara for sure. Seems a great many Mass Effect ideas were derived  elsewhere. BSG/ Geth & Quarian ; Blade Runner/ Omega ; Riddick/ Jack &Urz along with the powers charge & reave just to name a few.

Don't worry, that won't happen. I don't doubt that the continuation and conclusion of her romance will be beautiful. Even though I for one don't care for it in the least, but I'm not jealous. It's not worth it.

By the way, someone recently claimed that perhaps the ME 1 LIs were screwed because the new lead writer doesn't care for them. Out of interest, do we know who exactly wrote which character from ME 1?

Well, Drew Karpyshyn was the lead writer of ME1, so he was the main creator of all the characters (In their original form. I'm sure other writers helped make them the characters we now know them to be.) As for who's the lead writer of ME3, I don't think that's been confirmed. But I'm guessing it's Drew and Mac again, with Mac tackling most of the work.

Someone claimed that at least Wrex were written (primarily) by Mr. Walters? I have no idea, but maybe someone knows?

I for one actually don't think a writer would destroy the creations from someone else out of spite. They were probably told to make the old LIs look bad, so that the new ones could shine more. Apart from that, it's probably simply due to not everyone having the talent that Mr. Karpyshyn seems to have. Good writers are rare even in movies, much more so in the gaming industry. And apart from the people who worked on DA (and did a great job with the writing - at least for the characters, the main story could certainly have been better too), it seems BioWare concentrates a lot of its best personnel on TOR.

Well, if the plan is to give you hell for cheating, with Liara Shepard (and the player) comes across as an ungrateful bastard (if you learn what happened) or just uncaring (the dialogue option was there, if you really cared you would have reloaded from writer´s POV). The ME2 LI could also take it bad: take Jack, after all the betrayals she went through, you betray someone to be with her.

Ash/Kaiden have it worse, as all other ME1 squads trust you from the beginning.

I really don't hope that as soon as the player boots up ME3 and gets started, a confrontation will happen between the two LI's. Because if they do people will pick the ME2 LI because  the ME1 LI's were put in such a negative light in the second game. And as a result it will just boost Bioware own ego about ME2 LI's being the faaaaaar more compelling one.

I think, at worst, "cheaters" should be stuck wit their ME2 LI. If both LIs leave you, then you're being punished for preferring your ME2 choice. That's bad.

Old article but an interesting read with regard to the process or format BW follows. Can't really pin down who writes what for whom but agreeably it appears to me the character focus shifted from 1 to 2 possibly due to task restructuring because of the emphasis placed on the shooter aspect and pace of the game. Apparant to me was a loss of quality with regard to story, dialogue and character development. In 2 there was a lot of superficial glitz at the expence of depth and continuity, the story for me just didn't flow the way 1 did and that was a major disappointment. Almost like the difference between a novel and a group of short stories. Whoever applied their talents to story telling in 1 did a great job IMO, not so much in 2. I'd love to see them return to the art of story telling used in 1 when they do 3 even if it takes more disks or time to do it.

Maybe giving you the option to fix it with whoever you want. There should be a cost, but without LIs character derailment or bad writing (intentional as in ME2 or otherwise). Also hope the bridge DLC does not avoid the issue if it should be adressed (Liara DLC if it ever happens) just so it is left for ME3.

There will be no conflict. At the beginning of the game there will be some plot contrivance so that Shepard will be far away from their LI and will have a new crew and potential LIs. At the end of ME3, if Shepard didn't pick a new LI in ME3, the old active LI will have a small epilogue (10 second shot) showing them happy together.

Cut. End scene. End game. No effort required on BioWare's part. No complex tracking required. Put in shops. Make money. Laugh at a jilted fans. Make next game.

Didn't Bioware claim they already had a suprise for how ME3 will start? I'll think someone in this thread wrote that.
