You certainly have gained some new fans. I've done, if not a 180, a hard right turn on Liara over the last few months *hopes no one finds old posts*

Actually, I'm really interested in reading your original opinions of Liara, jtav! Repost them here, or if you don't feel comfortable doing so send me them in a PM.

I'm glad that you've grown to love her, though!

Mind if I just sum up? They're scattered all over the place.

My rather hazy memories of her were as a damsel in distress who came on to Shepard way too fast. I perceived her as fragile and far too sweet. Mary Sue for big strong Shepard to protect. I didn't hate her, but I didn't think much of her, though I did appreciate her passion for archeology.. ME2 comes around and I meet Liara again. Really excited by the fact that Liara is doing something on her own and that the Shadow Broker business is obviously being set up for something big. I also fell in love with ME2 in general because of the cast and improved world-building. I was really confused by Liara fans anger because it was so obvious to me that Liara would have a big role in ME3. A small minority of Liara fans were also very adamant that no ME2 LIs should return in ME3 because Liara was absent in ME2 and that ME2 fans aren't real RPG fans. You can imagine how well that went over.

And then I had an epiphany. ME Liara was rebelling by becoming an archeologist but was doing so in a very constructive way and while still remaining a good person. Interesting, not boring. I make my first tenetive posts here and people are nice to me. I continue thinking about and deepening Liara's character in my head. I start getting fanfic ideas featuring Liara, first as a supporting player and then as a lead. I also become increasingly hostile towards Shep's Mary/Marty Sue tendencies, and the idea of Miranda and Liara running off to fight Reapers after deciding Shep is in idiot pops into my head. I play around wit the idea and decide to redo the romance. You know the rest.

Well thought out. Well reasoned. Polite.
In short what I've come to expect from Liara fans.

That's very interesting, jtav. It's good to hear that you've grown to appreciate Liara's character over time. I'm also very glad that you've realised that Liara is not someone who needs protection, that she's very able and capable of looking after herself, and not some delicate little flower that needs protection and security.

Thanks for sharing that, jtav. I appreciate it! I'm also very glad that you've become such a big Liara fan.

Does Liara's complexion change from ME1 to ME2 or is it just different lighting?

It's mostly the awful lighting. Her freckles and skin colour are largely the same, but the poor lighting makes it appear much different.

Her pupils are dilated and have been made smaller, though.

Alright because I thought it was just me.
She looks a much lighter shad of blue in ME2 than ME1.

She looked gray in ME2.  Horrendus.

I liked Liara from the get go in ME

But now my fandom is split.

I like Liara just as much (if not a small bit more) than another character.

Yes but like I said it's an equal split.
Which is why I have two Shepards.
MaleShep who went for Tali
And FemShep who went for Liara.
This way I don't betray anyone.

I ****** the quarian too. Loving three of the most popular female LIs means a busy and occasionally frustrated jtav.

My Friend reccomends grinding them up into genetic paste and growing them into rabid Liara fans.
He says it works.
He has asked to remain unidentified.

I like all of them too, it's just Liara is the only one I have a romantic interest in.

Liara and Ashley are my two favourite characters. I loves them!

I also prefer Miranda, Tali, and Liara as love interests. I do like the intelligent or cerebral characters/love interests.
--
I did consider Jack despite that, but her romance wasn't to my liking. And Ashley's views scare me away. So Miranda, Tali, and Liara it is.

But then they wouldn't be particularly effective fans would they?
My way you have a 2km long super Liara fan.

I like Tali and Liara for similar reasons.
Liara for the spunky bookish charm.
Tali for the sweet fiesty touch.
They both remind me of people who were important to me that are not here anymore.

Question.

Who do you guys think did a Better VA job?

Jennifer Hale or Mark Meer.

It's peripherally related to Liara.

I think Hale is the better voice actor. But I prefer Meer's voice.

That's a fair answer thank you.
I'm curious as to which Liara would prefer...
Just from the Voice no facetime.

I think we should let it slide. It's too much of a contentious issue, especially in this thread.

Depends.

In ME1 Hale was faaar superior than Meer.

But in ME2? They are actuelly even there.

But I still think that Hale does renegade better. And Meer does Paragon better. This is very true for speeches.

Oh.
I'm really sorry guys If I had known it was a hotbutton issue I wouldn't have asked.
Chalk it up to the mistake of someone still trying to find their niche on the thread.
