@ Lizardviking is Redemption Armor something existing? Otherwise it sounds like a great bonus to unlock for gaining Liaras loyalty in ME3.

For the same reason you had to gain Garrus' and Tali's? I don't think the loyalty mechanic will be back though. I expect ME3 to be far more plot focused.

I certainly hope so. I found the whole thing ridiculous. The missions themselves mostly worked well enough, but one single mission, and suddenly they're "loyal?" And before, they were not "loyal"? What does "loyal" even mean? Oh right, they paint their clothes, and they are kind enough not to die randomly. A loyalty / influence system is great, but not a dumbed down and meaningless "switch" like that. So I'm not against having to gain Liara's loyalty (again), but I certainly hope it'd be done properly.

Or just do without it like in ME 1, the game worked well enough as it was.
I also would very much prefer if progress in the romances were again tied to progress in the main story. I think it makes for a much better flow.

-It would have been better if they were more spaced, with story missions, story missions, side missions, and then a loyalty mission. Or some loyalties simply meant earning someone's trust, and not a mission.

Does Thane's Loyalty Mission count?

I actually wish there were more missions like Samara's and Thane's, which don't involve combat at all. They were kind of a breather. As much as I LOVE ME2's combat, really hope they make more breather moments in ME3.

@Indigo
Already seen it.
To get back to topic: Do you think Liara will be one of the starting squadmates in ME3 (assuming we get seperated from the ME2 team) or will she have to be recruited? And if so what would her recruitment mission be?
Personally, I would like it to be a raid on one the shadowbroker's possible safehouses, or if the shadow broker plot will be resolved in DLC. Then perhaps Ilos?

Or maybe Shepard will be declared rogue from some reason at the beginning of Mass Effect 3, and Liara will break him out of C-Sec custody. That would be cool in the way that Shepard would become the next Saren in the eyes of galactic government, and Liara could be Shepard's Benezia. Dramatically different in some ways, of course, they'd be looking for ways to stop the Reapers. Ooo! And the Virmire Survivor could be promoted to Spectre status and assigned to bring Shepard in, and given command of the next Normandy-class frigate; the SSV Omaha.
And Bioware could definitely work in a reason why you wouldn't have your ME2 team in there.

Yes. Shepard being declared rouge is one the ME3 possible plots I like. I always imagined that if it happend. The council and Udina would proberly launch a smear job campaings against him (perhaps that annoying reporter would make a "truth about Shepard" documentary. Which will be completly "unbiased") to remove his credibility, and to make doubt among those who believe him (remember if you saved the council, then Shepard is a hero of the people). It would also do a smear job against Liara Showing that her family (well, Benezia) have been working with terroist before.
IndigoWolfe wrote...
Or perhaps Shepard could be framed for a genocidal crime by ME3's main protagonist. Like crashing a ship going at FTL speeds into a major population center on the batarian homeworld. Combine that with Shepards association with Cerberus, and you've got quite a problem.
And plus you could add in Star Trek references like
Batarian Embassador: "We demand the expodition of Shepard, we demand justice!"
Liara (entering): "Batarian justice is a unique point of view." (this would be before she breaks Shepard out)
A conspiritorial investigation plot element would make an interesting twist for Mass Effect 3, I think.
