Don't give me playful snark! :P

Liara would have informed Shepard about the Ardat-Yakshi b/c, like I said, she's always very honest and forthright. She's not secretive or deceptive like that. These are traits that make up a large part of her personality.

She wouldn't have willingly entered into a relationship if she thought it could eventually cause harm, and not tell Shepard about it.

I know, but not even the most honest person is going to drop that bomb so early in the relationship.    It would be kind of awkward as Liara doesn't even know if Shepard would ever want children with her.

I really don't think kids are on Liara's radar at that point.

Remember when people were intially trying to rationalise Liara's "character change" in ME2 with her becoming an Ardat-Yakshi?

Ughhhhhh.

But when I was first playing Mass Effect 2, the way Shepard was stumbling over himself to help Liara in any way he could, you'd think Liara was an Ardat-Yakshi.

She certainly owns my mind.

I know that children are never once on either of Liara or Shepard's minds in ME1, but would have Liara then even entered a relationship with Shepard if she was genuinely worried about the AY? Would she have decided to run that risk?

So, you think she should wait until she hits the matron stage and knows if she carries the AY gene before entering in a relationship?

Yeah, I still think she's too young to have them, but that is debatable, I guess.

So, if they announced an expansion that involved Ash/Kaidan at E3, but not Liara's DLC, would you be angry at them?

Liara's children won't be pure blood daughters. They'll be human/asari. And it's already something that's rare. Why talk about it? It's not going to happen.

I'm not convinced that it only occurs with asari/asari parings...I was under the impression purebloods could give birth to an AY regardless of the species they choose to mate with.

No, not at all. I think she would bring the whole issue up if she was aware of the existence of the AY in ME1 whilst entering a relationship with Shepard, but because I think she isn't aware of their existence, it's never mentioned.

Liara would talk about it with Shepard if she feared she had the AY gene. As she doesn't, it's not b/c she's going to wait until she's a Matron to find out. It's because she plain doesn't know of the existence of the AY.

No matter what they do I will still be pissed at them.  They cannot fix what they have done.

I agree....I would be very happy for the Ash and Kaidan fans.  Hell, I'm a big Ash fan myself, though I don't romance her.

Then don't bother buying anything for ME2 and don't buy ME3.

Not at all. Whilst I would be disappointed, I'd be pleased with the fact that we're getting more content featuring these two great characters.

That is definitely a possibility, considering that they seem to be planning multiple 'story bridging' DLC packs. Of course, we are assuming one will deal with the Alliance (and Ash and Kaidan) and one will deal with Liara, or one will deal with both. If done separately, one will be released before the other and some fans might feel slighted. Hopefully they will announce them together even if they will not be released together, to give the other fan bases hope.

ME1 LI fans still might not get anything, of course.

Of course, this is all academic. There's no way they'd ever release Ash/Kaidan DLC.

Nope, they will just bring out shootey shootey action DLC.

To clarify, I'm not saying that Liara should wait until she becomes a matron to find out for certain if she carries the AY gene before entering a relationship. That's awful, and I'd never wish something like that on her. It's also very crass.

What I'm saying is that Liara would not enter a relationship with someone without at least talking about it if the whole AY thing was bothering her, and playing on her mind. She wouldn't be secrective about it. I think and hope she'd be willing to enter a relationship, but that she'd at least want to discuss her AY concerns with her partner.

They've never mentioned it, honestly.  We are assuming they will because we are assuming they are releasing Liara DLC (due to the files found on the PC) and we are assuming they would want to be fair to fans of the other ME1 LIs.

Tons of assuming.

There was that one vague hint from a CHud interview where he was talking about DLC and they showed Shepard staring at Ash's pic...that might have just been coincidence, however.

I would assume Ash/Kaidan and Liara would be intertwined in an expansion together. Although EA's financial guys are apparently not very good, they should at least know that the more fans buying something equals more money for the company.

Why would Bioware care about us when they have the new shooter fans to care about?

I agree with your characterization of Liara, I just don't think the Shep/Liara relationship has hit that point yet. They didn't spend that much time together before the Normandy went kablooey.  Shepard dies, comes back, and both of their minds are focused on other things that are not the relationship, atm.
