For us that remain faithful, though, we will get the romantic conversations with Liara and she'll open up and be intimate with us.

We can hope.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...
Continuing on from what I wrote earlier, what if the Liara DLC or expansion was developed concurrently with the rest of ME2, and therefore would have utilised the development team's full array of resources? It wouldn't be such a stretch then to assume that Liara's content will be pretty substantial, and we'll get plenty of romantic conversation with Liara. We do know that Liara's role in the game was originally alot greater, and that she would have accompanied Shepard on a mission, probably as a temporary squadmate, so maybe that is going to be greatly expanded for Liara's DLC and we'll have alot more content than we are expecting?
I'm hoping they don't use the DA:A model for an expansion....

Wow, the second link is so much better than what's actually in the game, it's a little stunning. It would've required so little effort to input (it could have been done for Kaiden/Ashley as well). I guess we just have to chalk it up to oversight, because it's hard to believe they would have left something like that out had they conceived of it. Thanks for sharing.

There's a way around it for the cheaters, though. Just have Liara's romantic dialogue or scenes be completely absent and have Liara keep it all business. That way, the cheaters won't whinge that they're being forced into the Liara romance again.
For us that remain faithful, though, we will get the romantic conversations with Liara and she'll open up and be intimate with us.
Yes they could do that. But before doing that, they could give them the option to end the relationship with her. I have seen some people complaining that they couldn't end their relationship with Liara in ME2, so that would be a good place to do that. (not that I would ever dream of doing that! But some people have other preferences....) Once this is done they can just have the dialog the way you said it.

Seriously, if you didn't want to romance Liara in ME1, why did you do it in the first place? Or, go back and replay ME1 staying single.

These people who are complaining that you can't break up with your ME1 LIs get on my nerves. They made the decision to romance them in ME1, so expect the consequences of cheating. If they were going to dump Liara that easy, then they shouldn't have romanced her in ME1.
Ohh yeah, don't get me wrong. I completelly agree with you. But I guess some people considered Liara a "one night thing" which is just lame. I especially hate when I see the poeple who say "ohh I always wanted Tali, but I couldn't romance her there, so I romanced Liara. Now I am gladly cheating on her with Tali!" --> drives me nuts!

I can't play ME2. It's hopeless, I've got zero enthusiam for it. I've finished the game twice, that's it. I can't muster enthusiasm for even ME1 any more, with the knowledge of how that triumphant ending will turn out. Absolute shambles. This thing is meant for people who love the shooter combat beyond anything else and Talimancers. I'm neither, so I guess I'm s#!t outta luck.
The combination of the loss of Liara/Wrex/Ash (especially poor poor LiLi, my old favorite, since I don't believe her character is salvageable thanks to Mac Walters' bungling), the awful plot and story, the neglible continuity from ME1, the new cartoony "anything goes as long it's cool" mentality from the writers and devs, the general move away from being an RPG...
Gah. Will have to keep an eye out for ME3 news, but that's two years out or so. And with this same team making it...
If the Liara DLC ever materializes, I hope her fans won't be let down once again! Good luck!

I consider the ME 2 romances as the "one night stands" type of relationships rather than the ME 1 loves. That's just me
Overall I agree. The ME2 romances had less emotion in them and felt more like, "hey we're gonna die on the suicide mission, lets bone real quick just to say we did". I hear that Jack's Paragon romance seems to be more than that, never seen it though.

They are not a hedge fund, they cannot make money by screwing people over.
Even if they lost a very small part of their customer base, it is still a fairly large amount of money.
I am going to do this in dollars for a very basic calculation, if BioWare lost 20,000 customers at 70$ (Canadian price) times 20,000, they just lost 1,400,000 dollars (obviously this is somewhat subject to change for different reasons, but they would still lose around 1,000,000$ at the very least).
That would be various developers paychecks, they don't want to loose their paychecks.
Even though 20,000 fans (or any other small amount of loyal fans) doesn't seem like a lot, it is still money, money someone could have gotten paid with.
My point is, they can't afford to ignore their fans (especially when it is obvious that their fans are justified in being pissed off for lack of Liara, while Shepard is being a complete ******), they just aren't in that business.
I am 100% certain, BioWare is taking our concerns about the Beautiful Blue Goddess seriously and have already done the expansion or was planning to do the expansion to rectifiy everything (or most of) what we are talking about.
It is a good thing we are all getting our concerns out in the open, if BioWare doesn't know what our problems are, they can't fix them.

Time to order Bioshock 2 I guess, start looking for Civilization V news, and consider myself one of those "acceptable losses".
Grab FF XIII, it's got Liara's VA in it.

/shrug I more get the impression BW couldn't be bothered to care one way or the other. If they cared about the fans of the ME1 LI's or the characters themseleves they wouldn't have taken them out of the sequel or they would at least have given us something positive in ME2 that the fans could rally around and use to sustain the fanbases till they do whatever it is they are going to do.
Instead the only representation they got in ME2 was completely negative to drive as many folks as possible out of these fanbases and into the groups for the new LI's. It would seem kinda silly if they turn around and try to reverse that at this point.
The ME1 LI's might get a bone thrown to them but looking at it realistically I don't think the fans for these characters have any reason to expect more in the future than what they have already received.

This is off topic, but I just saw FF XIII got reviews from 8.3 - 8.5, strange, technically they are saying Dead Space is better.

I never pay attention to review scores. ME2 got like universal 10's and we all know how I feel about the game. I have little faith that most review scores are based on anything more than the amount of advertising revenue a particular game generates for them.

But whatever floats their boat. Awakenings could be the first BioWare game ever that I never purchase (not because of the ME 2 fiasco, but because I don't like what I hear about the expansion). I still hope that there are enough people who will act accordingly, as that's the only chance to push the development in another direction (or to push EA into closing BioWare, which I don't doubt will happen to them too should at one point the sales number continue to not meet the expectations - but while I definitely would not be happy about it, they would have brought it all on themselves).
