Finished Redemption. Dear God, that was horrible. The art was ugly. There were canon mistakes. Liara...wasn't Liara, even allowing for the darker version presented in ME2. The hair-trigger temper and lack of impulse control bears no resemblance to the character I knew from either game. The action scenes are clumsy and the whole thing reads like a bad Dark Age comic. I did like a few thimgs. I've always had a thing for morally ambiguous Han Solo types, so I liked Feron. Hope he somehow managed to survive. Miranda and TIM are mostly well done, though I don't think Miranda's crack about bumpy foreheads was in character. I loved the hints of friendship we saw between her and Liara. (raise your hand if you're surprised I liked that part) But, overall, I found Redemption unsatisfying both as a comics fan and a ME fan. I'll be taking it as canon only in broad strokes.
Mhm. Sounds like exactly the sort of sentiments expressed by the vast majority of Liara's fanbase. Her characterisation throughout the entire run is absolutely awful. I get the impression that they amped her up in this manner in order to attempt to transform her into some kind of comic book heroine. It felt incredibly forced and unnatural. I also like the development of a mutual respect and friendship between Liara and Miranda. Miranda comforting and reassuring Liara was a nice touch, I thought.
Now read the link that I posted above, jtav. The hysteria amongst Liara's fanbase the day it was released was awful, I never want to go through something like that again. So much disappointment and frustration.
Oh well, at least you now know what we're all talking about, jtav!
