Even after that small scene in which she shows compassion for him, she again expresses mistrust for him and his actions. I can't remember the exact line, but it's something about Liara worrying of he'll betray her again or something.
Yeah, and then he sacrificed himself. She then realizes she could have trusted him, but it's too late now, because she left him to die. Also, Feron didn't know her in the beginning, so he was simply using her to get the Shadow Broker to trust him (or so he thought). But then he starts to care for her, since this is the first time he's ever worked with a partner.
Think Han Solo and Leia. Leia hates his guts, and he hates her, but they start to like each other. They continue this for 2 movies. Now, Feron and Liara don't fall in love, but she realizes in the end that she could have trusted him, and considers him a friend that needs to be saved.
