Yeah, but I mean in the entirety of the ME series and canon itself. Liara's love for Shepard, should you choose to pursue it, is clearly defined in ME1. This supposed friendship with Feron is not. That's my point!


But not outlined in the comic. If they wanted to show how much she loved Shepard, Feron would have asked "You really do care about Shepard? Don't you?" In which she'd sadly nod, and say "We went through a lot together..."

Liara: Yes... and no... at least...

Feron: You don't have to say another word. I understand.

True, but in the context of the rest of the comic series and what was displayed throughout the entirety of the run, the distrust and dislike is still simmering below the surface and it manifests itself as Liara again expresses distrust and doubt. You don't go from wanting to kill someone to liking them in the space of 5 short minutes.

No, I don't think it's selfish at all. It's survivor's guilt, and being appreciative of Feron's sacrifice. She feels like it's her duty to at least learn of his fate. That's not selfish at all, it's actually incredibly compassionate to do something like that for someone you don't like.


A friend is like a business partner?


Hm, you misunderstand what I'm saying. They use the term "friend" in ME2 for convenience sake, when whats is meant is something like a business partner.

I'm confused though, J. When we spoke before, you said about how you knew Liara didn't even like him. Why the change of opinion?

I think that what the original point of contention was is that it's never specified that Shepard is Liara's lover in Redemption as it had to remain romance neutral. I argue that it's not necessary or relevant as Liara and Shepard's love for each other is clearly defined in the games, in particular ME1. A supposed friendship with Feron is never clearly defined in Redemption, and therefore can't really be compared with this point of romance neutrality in the comic. Therefore, you assume that WYSIWYG regarding any supposed friendship with Feron.

Regarding what is shown in ME2, that's something I'm debating in another series of posts with you. :P

It's not outlined in the comic because that's not necessary, as it's clearly defined in the games and elsewhere.

I didn't get much in the way of friendship vibes from the comic, but I did get th sense that she cared for him from the game. I defer to the game because I recognize game!Liara. Comic!Liara, not so much. And, well, it makes her obsession with taking down the SB to the exclusion of joining Shepard more understandable.
