I really think they're supposed to be friends. At the very least, there's evidence to support this interpretation, and it's the one I prefer.

Think about it, they spent all their time together for a few weeks....they hung out, shared meals with each other (when they weren't looking for Shepard).  I would find it odd if Liara didn't come to care for Feron as a person in some way.

No, I don't think it's selfish at all. It's survivor's guilt, and being appreciative of Feron's sacrifice. She feels like it's her duty to at least learn of his fate. That's not selfish at all, it's actually incredibly compassionate to do something like that for someone you don't like.

But that is selfish.  Liara is only looking for Feron to quell her own quilt, not because she gives one crap about him.

I'm confused though, J. When we spoke before, you said about how you knew Liara didn't even like him. Why the change of opinion?

She doesn't like him like him (which is what I think I meant), and I'm sure she doesn't consider him to be her bestest friend ever, but I would imagine she harbors some warm feelings for him.

Not this again. If BioWare/EA want to cancel the romance, they'll pull something out their hats, simple as that. Likely the "revelation" that Liara does have feelings for Feron after all. Whether that makes sense, or is in-character for her is a whole different question, one they obviously don't care about. Neverthelesess, the answer of course is: No. And that's really all that can and should be said about the matter.

We are not saying she has romantic feelings for Feron or that she's about to leave Shepard for him.   We are saying she has 'friendly warm' feelings, like in a bromance.

Les, when I say 'OMG!!!! It's so obvious from the comic that Liara doesn't give a crap about Shepard and is doing everything out of guilt (or for Feron)' you say, 'poor scripting' and 'the comic is to be ignored...ME2 is the canon!'. And I'm all right with that.

However, when you say 'OMG!!!! Liara don't care 'bout that Feron at all and it's obvious from the comic!' And I say, 'poor scripting' and 'the comic is to be ignored...ME2 is the canon!' you are like, 'Nuh uh! The comic is the GODDESS!!' What gives man?

I absolutely don't think there's any evidence of a Lira/Feron romance of any kind. Could they go in that direction? Yes, and I wouldn't mind if they hinted it in non-romance playthroughs. But that's not the same thing as a friendship.

I think they were supposed to be too, but they tried to shove it in at the last moment, in the final few panels, and it failed.

I won't be surprised if Liara is friendly to Feron (if we ever get to see him...if we ever get Liara DLC) or if she is real upset if he is found to be dead.

Les thinks she's going to rescue him and then punch him in the face!
