This song makes me think of Liara in ME2 for some reason.

I don't think those audio files will ever see the light of day. Liara's whole story with the Shadow Broker seems to have been greatly expanded and rewritten, so you have to feel that BioWare didn't like what they had initially written for her role in ME2. Thank God, because the original reason that she couldn't come with you was incredibly lame and contrived.

Yeah, I love Liara too! So much! I think about her nearly all the time! I wuv you, Liara!

I agree, I don't think these files will ever be used in the way they seem to be presented here (I can't come with you because I need to read!). BioWare has shown some sense by getting rid of the story, maybe with more time that could have developed it better. Hopefully we'll get some concrete info about a Liara DLC this week at GDC (I can hope!) or after the comic.

As a side note, if BioWare announce DLC at GDC that involves the curing of Thane and nothing regarding Liara I will be a very unhappy man.

Liara is one of my favourite videogame characters, her and Alyx Vance.

Indeed morrie. The GDC starts tomorrow, so I'm going to be hunting down every scrap of information regarding Liara as much as possible. I'm already keeping a look out for the preview for Redemption #4, heh. It's now only 4 weeks this Wednesday until the last issue of Redemption is released, so the wait for more Liara could be over very soon, my friends!

Looking at the hidden dialogue again you basically have Liara ascend to the position of the Shadow Broker. Her whole logic is suspect though as you can destroy the Collectors without ANY input at all from her. Either they are rewriting the story as they go (my assumption as it seems they did not like their original crack at Liara's role) or the DLC is still going to make people pissed off.

Well in the worst case they can still go through with what was in cut files just with new lines, but then the question comes up whats the point,as you said we dont need the Shadow Brokers data to kill the collectors, even this whole line about why the collectors wanted Shepards body, that is in the cut files would have not been of any help.
Personally I wouldnt mind the Shadow Broker getting away again in case of a DLC,partialy because I just dont see how you can casually walk into a base and gun down one of the most evasive persons in the galaxy.

Though if I were BioWare, I might use the whole 'I need to sift through the data' thing as an excuse for why she can't be on the ship... which, let's be honest, I'll bet dollars to donuts that it'd practically break the game to do that before the attack on the Collectors.  (I'd personally have Liaramancers have the option to say 'that's not much of a reason' or thereabouts, with a response to the effect of "I think I know you'll have a better chance coming back if you know you have me to come back to", or poetic words to that effect...)
If the Shadow Broker attack has to happen after that?  Well, I'd give that excuse too, seeing as there are practically no places to berth her... save one.  The question is, am I greedy enough to suggest that only ... those people that would want Liara in their own cabin get to have Liara around regularly?  I might be.
(Oh, and yes, I know there's both the cargo hold and the other observation deck but I'm pretty sure that the latter is reserved for Kasumi and the former... just is so beneath my Liara.  And ... well, Crew Quarters has to be full up by now.  So there.  :P)
Even then, I wonder if the game would handle her as a squad member.  I mean, if it'd cost a four GIG patch just to put Garrus's face in ... but I bet they'd be able to have her on board in the lab or med bay for less disk space... still, I'd like to run around with my LiLi every so often, and is there anything wrong with that?:wub:

Well frankly so far they just changed the order of how things happen so noone stops them from doing  the same stuff just with a few new recorded lines,as idiotic as that would be.
I agree that the cut soundfiles as they are wont be used again, generally the whole thing as presented in them was more than lame, not just because of Liaras "I have to read" excuse.
As it was there TIM just presents you the position of the SBs base, which would have opened up another branch of questions alltogether.
As for the GDC my moneys on some Hammerhead footage and maybe some info on Kasumi,at best.
Liara DLC depends on what it contains,if its just some new missions she sends you on then its possible we get some info after the last comic,if its something that takes place after the collector base or is part of an expansion I guess then it will be later this year closer to the ME3 release.

Oh and on a sidenote,a DLC that cures Thane would be kind of stupid, wouldnt that rob him of an essential part of his character, besides its pretty much stressed in the game that there is no cure Thane himself says it more than once.
Sure the Hanar have started Bioengineering, but again Thane says he wont life long enough to profit from this.
If they now magicly conjur up a cure it would be quite lame,I could agree to something that buys him more time though.

Indeed, they could just reinstate the story line as they planned, leaving Liara on Illium once it's all said and done. I think this is gonna depend on if they set  any Liara DLC before or after the suicide mission.

The 'I have to read' reason is just one of many frak-ups they originally planned, Liara seems to more or less take over the SBs information network in the cut dialogue, which I think would of been a bad thing for her character and any future prospects with Shep.

At this point I'd just like some info from BioWare about what they plan for the future, I can be patient regarding a future release date, it's just the not knowing anything which is starting to annoy me.

I do like Thane, but curing him would undo a lot of his character and motivation. I wonder where any possible cure would come from? Maybe the SB has something lying around...

Like many of the above posters. I too. have never cared about any game character half as much as I do for the lovely Liara. Its ridiculous, I'm playing through ME1 again with Liara at my side (as always) and Liara was taken down by one of Shiala's clones on Feros, I was mortified! Damn unity was still recharging, so basically had to leave her lying there...really didn't like itPosted Image

Heh, whenever Liara goes down in any of my games I always reload. I always complete the game with Liara having never been taken down, not once. I love Liara a lot, too. I love having her at my side in ME1, and I missed her so much in ME2, I was so sorrowful throughout virtually the entire game. I can't work up the energy to play through ME2 again, but I can't wait to get back to ME1. All because of Liara. I love her!

i connect to previously posted opinions that Liara is a first character i feel connected, i care for & i'm  in love witch:wub:
before Liara it was: "o good NPC, i like him=]" and that was all at best
Liara turned things like 180 degrees and i suppose none other character will make me feel what i feel for Liara:wub::wub:

I paid good money for ME 2, so I play it more than once. But once the very well done intro of ME 2 was over, I never once felt the same magic as with ME 1. I had hoped that the meeting with Liara at least would create this spark, simply by drawing from the atmosphere and good memories of part 1. Instead it was the worst part of the game and I felt insulted by the developers. This will be remembered in the future, and it has destroyed a lot of good will and faith I had for BioWare.

Cool stamps!

Bit off topic, but why the hell did a mod sticky the tali thread? It's always been able to stay afloat by itself. Why not sticky the rest of the LI threads? Grrr.

Lol, it's pure irony. It was the only thread that never hit the second page.

Ughghgg this was one very long weekend. I think to start a new week I'm going to bump this thread in the name of the blue goddess :wub::wub:

Just saw a screenshot of the email from Ashley in the other thread. Have a look if you don't know it yet, it's quite nicely written. We of course don't even get that. Even though the main purpose of the Email system is to be able to transport information without the need to record VOs, they couldn't be bothered.

Maybe they weren't available, or other reasons. You never know.

Who wasn't available, the writers? That would explain a lot. Maybe the janitor had to step in? (Nothing against janitors, I'm sure there are many who could write a proper story.)

As if we needed more proof that the Taliban gets special treatment.

It's a joke, it didn't need to be stickied, it contains no useful info and no constructive discussion. Sigh....
