Stop it guys. This (so far) has been one of the very few character threads that has not attacked the other characters, don't start now. The other character threads aren't really complaining, it just makes us look bad. We don't want this thread to turn into something its not.

Yeah, you're right. We've long said that this is the character thread with probably the most substance in terms of in-depth discussion and speculation and interpretation of Liara's character and her role. We don't need to start flaming or anything, just show the love for our Beautiful Blue Goddess!

I think the beautiful blue goddess agrees!

Liara was the most powerful squad-mate in mass effect 1. My favorite personality other than wrex. Liara will probably be a squad option next game since she hasn't had the option to be killed yet but that might be the fact that she gets sacrificed in the last game for something stupid.

don't you dare talk like that about The Blue Goddess!!

I think you're right. It's time to scour the internets for signs of a Liara DLC :D

EDIT - Nope, it's from March 9th to 13th.

GDC starts tomorrow, I believe. Searching now would be premature. ;-)

I edited my post just as you posted this. I was just a tad bit too slow. My excitement got the better of me =]

Oh yeah, I forgot about GDC. Has that "DLC announcement" rumor been repeated anywhere else? Or is it still just the one site?

It's still just the one site. I'd love to hear an announcement but I'm not giving my hopes up on it. The Hammerhead releases at the end of this month and I bet they mention that first.

Okay, back to discussion. Recently played the Normandy crash site DLC again. I think we can all agree that the level design is very nice, while the content is rather underwhelming. Could it be that it was initially created for the cut part where Liara was going to find Shepard's body?

Interesting thought, but Shep's body wouldn't be with the ship. He was spaced. He flew far away from the Normandy when it was destroyed.

Yeah, I'm not going to get my hopes up either.  I'd rather be pleasantly surprised.
Less emotional trauma, that way.

Certainly, but not everything has to make sense, ME 2 proves that more than once. Besides, who says they were supposed to find the body there? Maybe Legion (whose role also was apparently planned quite different) was supposed to go there first. All speculation, but why would they invest so much work in the level design, and so little in the actual gameplay?

EDIT: And don't you find Shepard's old helmet there? If I haven't misunderstood something, it's supposed to be the one he was wearing when the Normandy was destroyed, no? That could indicate that he WAS supposed to be around there somewhere. And Legion could have found his armor parts there too. Hm... this theory makes even more sense than I thought.

On a related note, was anyone else disappointed that we couldn't get into the part of the Normandy where Liara used to sit on her computer in the Med Bay? I wanted to go there and reminisce, but no dice. Exploring the wreckage of the Normandy was quite melancholic for me, was thinking about Liara alot as I was doing it. :/

Not yet J, but I'm checking virtually all the time. It was around this time last month that I found the preview for issue 2, so I'm keeping an eye out for more Liara.:D

We know we have some DLC on the horizon at least. Hammerhead, for as much as people complain looks fun and it is FREE as far as I remember, if not at all plot related. A new character is also coming (Kasumi) which will make some replays more interesting, at least. It seems Christina Norman referred to new quest DLC she was playing on her twitter, so with that said maybe something related to Thane (she mentioned female Sheps would be happy)? Bioware is really making an effort with the DLC it is doing and remember, we already are on track to have more than ME1 ever did...

As for Liara's DLC, I'd imagine we'd hear something when either the comic concludes or at a trade show like GDC or even E3. That is, if it is more than just the cut out quests that were part of ME 2 just being restored, though I imagine they rewrote them as most people will be playing them AFTER the Collectors and Liara's whole "I can give you important Collector info!!!" will be irrelevent...

I was too!  I wanted a Liara flashback.

The second time I played through the opening Normandy crash scene, I stood by the med-bay door and stared at it for 2 minutes.  I love that door!

Yeah, I was waiting for my Shep to say something about Liara and how much she misses her. I thought it was supposed to be about old memories!
Why did we see Kaidan (I am not sure if you see Ashley if she died) and not Liara, Kaidan was a buddy, Liara is your love.
I was only thinking about Liara the entire time as well, lol.
Again, I love Liara so much! <3<3:wub::wub:

i felt quite same @ that time, as for GDC let's start 24h counter then...:) [it's better to be just little over-top optimist than the other way around don't you think?]
-EDIT-
i also recommend this gdc.gamespot.com/ live-strem GDC url i found:)

I did something very similar.   I tried to go into my quarters, but the door was locked.  So I just stood and stared at it for a minute, thinking... "I've got some great memories of things that happened in that room."  It was a very melancholy moment, since I was already aware of what was about to happen, not only to Shepard, but to Liara as well.
