Whilst I do think that is very plausible, you have to remember that Garrus had Renegade tendencies from the start. He was always something of a reckless hothead, and Shepard encouraging him to be Renegade is more like a natural progression of what he believes. With Liara however, it's alot different. She's never enjoyed acting in this somewhat Renegade manner, and has always retained her compassionate and caring personality traits. Encouraging her to become more ruthless and Renegade is not something she would enjoy or comply with whilst experiencing happiness, as they're not traits that are inherent to her character. She'd know that what she's doing is wrong, but would be encouraged to do so because Shepard would have her believe it's the only way. Would she enjoy or like this? I don't think so.

I know Garrus always had a renegade side to him. But the way he delivers and says it. Makes it sound less than "Im the new dirty Harry" and more like "Im Darth Garrus".

Also Liara would have seen Shepard's mind when they melded. Couple that with Shepard manipulation, and her love for Shepard. And you have somebody who could easily be changed.

I know what you are thinking. Liara morals and beliefs are not so easily changed, and that is certainly true... For ME1 Liara. ME2 Liara is walking on a dangerous path, and while a paragon can easily bring the kind and compassionate person back. A renegade will have much better easier time now to push her down a darker road.

Oh yeah, I agree with that completely. With a Renegade Shepard's influence, Liara could definitely be manipulated and twisted into embracing this ruthless and aggressive facade. Shepard could easily exploit her suffering plus her devotion and use it to alter Liara as she sees fit. That's very likely.

What I wonder though is that if this precludes and prevents happiness and contentment on Liara's part, especially as she's being manipulated and influenced into acting this way? I argue that you can't really comfort her like this, as you're encouraging the pain and torment to fester within her, and allow it to consume her and transform her into a person she does not want to be. That's what I'm wondering.

Why be happy. When you can rule the entire galaxy! 

Also renegade Liara won't need comfort. What happend before she turned renegade, she would view as weakness on her part when she "young and idealistic" but Shepard have made her stronger and wiser about life.

In short. I don't think she would want comfort. She would just loath how "weak" she was before.

I also get the feeling that she'd take a more......cold approach to the other squadmates.

Yeah, same here. I'd have to see how we get to the decision though to be able to see/imagine the possible outcomes and consequences my decision would have to decide what I (as in my main Shepard) would do.
In my other pts I'd try the other options then eventually.

If they have multiple paths for Liara to take, then I would defintly have to play the game several times. But as you said on the last page. turning renegade and rulling the galaxy with Liara would be too much for me to resist!

It's definetly the reason why DS was so much more badass than LS in KOTOR!

Well we've already established that a Renegade Shep/Liara team rules the galaxy as the dark lords of the galaxyverse!

how about a paragon version now then?

If Liara and Shepard ever manage to take over the galaxy. Would Liara then flay the messenger bearing bad news with her mind, or would rather press a button to summon some asari commandos to beat him up?
