The speaker and harbinger for Liara and Shepard will be an elcor.

"In terrifying voice: Behold mere mortals. Tremble in awe as your masters stand before you!

We're still talking about Renegade Shepard and Liara assuming a role as tyrannical galactic rulers?

Liara finds your lack of enthusiasm about this subject disturbing!

We had a serious discusion about leading Liara down the renegade path would result in. We then came to the discision that Shepard and Liara would assume roles as galactic tyrants should they both be renegades. In fact. We have already declared serveral facts about them. You can read them on the last page.

I don't know, Indigo. It all seemed Greek to me.

Couldn't understand what was being said until I flipped back about 7 pages.

Here everyone, take a look at the TVTropes page for the Mass Effect characters, specifically Liara's section:

http://tvtropes.org/...ters/MassEffect

Some of the tropes attributed to Liara's character are the sort of misinformed crap that I expect from Liara's bashers on here. "Innocence Virgin on Stupidity"? "Distressed Damsel"? I may have to edit every single one of these to rectify it.

To be fair. Bioware did try to paint her to be something of a damsel in distress with her being trapped in a bubble and her constant fainting after each debriefing. In ME2 Tali is the damsel in distress this time!

I hate the fainting and wish it they did not have Liara do so, but I think the whole "Distressed Damsel" thing is entirely averted when you actually talk to Liara. She refuses Shepard's offer of protection, saying she is entirely capable of defending herself. This is reinforced by the fact that Liara has been able to work on remote and hostile digsites alone, protecting herself against indigenous wildlife, pirates and slavers using her biotics. She's a very capable and competant person.

If in ME3 you would have the oportunity to increase Shepard life span to match Liara's do you guys think that would be a good or bad thing for Shepard/Liara story. I have seen people here saying that would ruin part of the drama involving their relationship but I will be realy happy if my Shepard could live 1000 years with Liara and she would not be forced to see Shepard die again.

Of course she isn't defenceless. But she does have  "damsel in distress" moment with the bubble where she basicly goes "Oh help me good sir knight! I'm trapped in this bubble" that and the fainting makes her the damsel in ME1 even through doesn't last through out  the entire game (and thank god for that!).

I'll think it would ruin the drama in the relationship. I'm sure the lazarus project have extended Shepard lifespan with (and this is my guess) 50 years or so. But I would hate if Shepard would live as long as Liara.

I'm unsure, MW. On one hand, it would allow Shepard to live out his/ her years with Liara for the same lifespan, but on the other, a short (compared to an asari) lifespan was generally accepted within combined asari/non-asari families as a common, yet potentially tragic, part of life.

All in all, I think Im torn between the two alternatives.

I would agree that it would be a bad thing, from a storytelling standpoint. It would also ruin the attitude of "It doesn't matter how much time one has, but how they use it", which I really really like. And giving the option of letting Shepard live for a thousand years would be a sell out (I believe is the right term) on par with getting Tali genetic manipulation that would allow her and Shepard to have biological children.

But with Liara story in ME2 I think that Liara/Shepard relationship have already enough drama and IMO don't need the extra drama that the diferent life spans offers.

Yeah, I'd say that BW intended for the player to get a Damsel in Distress vibe from meeting and rescuing Liara, but I think that when you analyse it, it is actually entirely averted. Liara became trapped in the Prothean bubble not because she's weak or incompetant, and wanted to hide away, but because she was quickly being overwhelmed by a krogan battlemaster and an entire geth platoon. No way she could have survived with those odds stacked against her. So, she did the smart and logical thing by attempting to defend herself through protection via the technology. Of course, she then made a mistake and found herself in the situation Shepard and the squad discovers her in. None of it is because she's weak, though.

You want a true damsel in distress? Try Princess Peach. She's most definitely a poor, defenseless damsel in distress!:P
