Finished with last 10 pages. Wished I had logged in earlier. A couple of points:

Competent renegade rulers of the galaxy follow the Evil Overlord List. Not so funny but far more successful. Just think of Palpatine after he lost it between trilogies.

Am I the only one afraid BW will do a Sheridan (B5) with Lazarus Shepard? It´s sad but somehow fitting...

Renegade Liara won't be mandatory and unavoidable. I think it's that Shepard will be able to exert an influence over her alignment in ME3, and either encourage her to be Renegade or Paragon.

All other caracters have a option to go either paragon or renegade depending on Shepard influence I hope nothing less for Liara.

I'm hoping that influencing Liara and encouraging her to shift her alignment will have an effect on the storyline, though. This is something that was not the case with Ashley, Kaidan and Garrus in ME1. It merely altered their dialogue somewhat. I hope that a certain scene or situation will vary depending on whether Liara is a Paragon or a Renegade.

I just want Liara snuggle times!

ME2 had it, so why not ME3?

The only way I see the storyline being influenced by Liara alignment is a renegade Liara taking th e SB role and using this resources to help Shepard and a paragon Liara will reject the SB role and will help Shepard discover the weapon that destroyed the reaper in ME2 or some other ancient artifact that could help destroy the reapers.

I'm probably in the minority here but I hope we can't influence Liara in ME3 (or not much)!
Liara is like 3x older than Shepard. She has traveled the galaxy for years.
For example, Garrus...
- bad cop (ME1 beginning) - good cop (paragonized in ME1) - bad cop (ME2 beginning) - good cop (paragonized in ME2)
He doesn't know what he wants.

Shep: Liara...think about it. Paragon (Renegade) is the right way!
Liara: You're right Shep. Thanks for guiding and advising me:wub:
I think it would ruin the character for me.

Good point...I actually agree with you (I hate the whole protagonist influences squad mates schtick) but I fear all signs point to it with Liara in ME3.

The whole dynamic of protagonists influencing squadmates isn't inherently bad, though. If done well, it could actually be very compelling with Liara. It's not so much as telling her to alter her beliefs and ideals, but encouraging her to act in a certain way.

some squadmates? Why not...
younger/less experienced characters (Tali, maybe Grunt^_^), but not Liara (imo)

For example, it's merely a case of Paragon Shepards helping Liara remembrace her compassionate, caring and selfless true personality, something she obviously would love to do as it's the person she is and always has been. They are traits inherent to her personality. A Renegade Shepard would make the point to Liara that acting in a more ruthless and cutthroat manner was highly effective, and resulted in her getting the job done. This could get Liara thinking that perhaps becoming a little more Renegade would be the right thing to do, and would help her get what she wants in life and achieve her goals.

It's not so much as Liara being weak and deferring to Shepard. She's making her own choices about her future, but with suggestions from the person she loves.

Hmm, perhaps "influencing" is the wrong term, Barq. It's more like making suggestions to Liara in terms of the direction and nature of her personality, and Liara herself chooses whether she adheres to them. It's not about Liara being weak and deferring to Shepard, as she's still making a conscious decision about her personality on her own terms.

I don't see this like Liara blindely fallowing what Shepard tell her to do if the sceane his done right we will see that Shepard is trying to advise her (like Liara do with Shepard in ME1 wiht the Rachni and the council,...) and in that sceane he also will see the conflict in Liara before she decide what to do and her decision will be presented as her own and not Shepard's but I think that for Liara Shepard's opinion has a lot of importace but the same is true for Liara's opinion being important for Shepard.

The protagonist effecting other characters is a means of character development.  If there's one thing ME needs more of, it's character development, and I'm not being sarcastic.  The only down-side is that Shepard isn't effected himself, because he's an emotionless block.

We were talking about crying elsewhere. Who here is going to cry when we finally get to see Liara in dlc? I know the second she pops on screen, I'll be a mess!

If it's well done (Garrus, Ashley, Kaidan were not convincing imo)...maybe.

I think I just love "independent" characters (for example, Samara or Morrigan); characters who can resist the player character.
Shep wants to romance Samara, not very successful^_^
Morrigan has her own agenda, LI or not
