To be honest, Kaidan and Carth never struck me as being very similar. They have the same voice actor, and that's about it.
A lot of people never liked Carth because he wouldn't stop talking about Saul and how he betrayed him, killed his family, destroyed his homeworld, etc. They called him a whiner. Bioware made a pretty funny reference to this in ME1, when you talk to Kaidan and he says something like "I don't want you to think of me as a whiner" right after he got done talking about his past.
Yes because people quickly forget when stuff like that happens to them and it would never impact the life of a character.
The people who complained about REAL characters with REAL emotions are the REAL whiners, and are partly responsiable for the one trick cartoon characters that are the ME2 crew.

That would be cool. Liara would be the one in charge of the rescue as she was able to ascertain Shepard's location using her contacts. She would contact someone on the Normandy crew and then it would proceed from their. Interesting idea.

I don't know about that. Why would she suddenly be able to lead a team on a dangerous rescue mission? She's not a soldier. And certainly no one could do such a job as well as Shepard, that would pretty much contradict the story.
I'm also against forcing the player to control a character other than Shepard. I already dislike the short scene with Joker.

I like this idea. Liara assuming a commanding and leadership role, in order to rescue Shepard? That's excellent. As she also acted alone when she recovered Shepard's body previously, Liara would probably realise that she need not be so headstrong and that she should take all the help she can get.

She have been leading her own information network for two years she may not be as charismatic as Shepard
but I'm sure she would be more than capable of leading Shepard team in his place.
About controling other character I also don't like much but if it was Liara I would like, and Joker part is frustating IMO because your movements are very limited.

I suppose you could cast doubt on Liara leading Shepard's team from a military perspective, as she has had no formal military training and would not be very well versed in combat tactics and the like.
That's what I meant. From a story perspective, it wouldn't make much sense if suddenly she can lead a team as well as Shepard. At least in theory that's not an easy task, even though the game with it's focus on instant action makes it look like it.

But from a perspective of Liara being confident and assertive enough to lead the team? That's very possible.
She haven't had formal military training but she have been part of military operations like the misson to find Saren and I bet that during the two years as information broker she must have atacked more SB bases like the one in Redemption.

It's a trailer idea for ME3, it's in the same vein as the "Decieved" TOR trailer.
It's from the perspective of the Reapers.
Liara makes a brief appearance.
Alright here goes!
Harbinger: Hope. *said in a disgusted tone* Hope is what these creatures cling to. *Harbinger and co arriving in a star system*
Harbinger: Hope is an illusion. *Reapers engaging a small fleet and winning*
Harbinger: They think that Shepard can save them. *15-30 second clip of Shepard, Garrus, and Liara fighting whatever replaces the Collectors as Reaper foot soldiers* Shepard can't save them. Nothing can save them.
Harbinger: They cannot possibly understand what is at stake *Reapers bombarding a planet*
Harbinger: The cycle cannot be broken..... *minute of fleet battle between Reapers and allied fleets with the Reapers appearing to win*
Harbinger: The cycle must not be broken....
*dramatic music plays and the ME3 logo appears*
Please tell me what you think about it.
I thought this up 3 weeks ago.

It's a good idea but something like this should have been done in ME2 and then in ME3 would be the turning the tide like TOR trailer Hope.

It was about Shepard gathering a team.
I also had another idea for a trailer.
This one from the allied perspective.
Narrated by Hackett.
I'll post it later.

Also the Hope Trailer is actually before Decieved.
Hope is where the Republic starts to not fail completely.
Decieved is where the Sith B*tch slap the Republic into a peace treaty.

I know what I was saying is that ME2 history should have follow the storyline your trailer is sugesting. The galaxy being close to deafeat and at the end of the game could be a litle like the second part of LOTR.

And already within days of arrival they are kicking ass up and down the outer edges of the Galaxy.

I tought that was after because after Decived the things seams very bad for the Republic and they could use some hope and because the sith are not the type that keep peace treaties for long. No offence Darth. But I was wrong.

Not a big deal.
Check the TOR site though.
They've got the whole thing mapped out.
The Treaty that results from decieved is still going 10-20 years later when TOR starts.
It's a Galactic Cold War.
