I never want to see a ME comic again. Why couldn't someone like Brubaker or Ellis have written ut. I've heard some people refer to Redemption as an attempt to make Liara into "a comic book heroine." It bothers me that it's given so many fans a bad impression of comics in general. Comics has some fantastic female characters.
That was me, jtav, but don't worry as I know that Redemption is an extremely bad example as far as comic books go. When I say that they attempted to turn Liara into a comic book heroine, I meant that from a perspective of someone who is ignorant of comics. It's like they thought that comic protagonists have to be violent, aggressive and "badass", and attempted to turn Liara into a character like that. It's just incredibly poorly written, that's all.
I happen to think that Watchmen is an amazing piece of literature.

If it's based on a character Walters knows how to do, it will be amazing. Looking forward to it.

He certainly knows how to handle Liara properly. She's his creation and his baby, after all.

That's an interesting theory. Would Redemption have been alot better had Drew been the lead writer?

Yes it would. When it comes to writers, a writer does better with a character he is used too. Let's look at Wrex and Liara, Kaidan and Ash. Wrex cameo scene was fantastic, alot of work went into it, it was very good because Walters wrote Wrex and knows the character. Now lets look at Liara, Kaidan and Ash. Walters never wrote them, nor does he really know them, that's why any project with those three characters with him writing them will fail.Arias(sp) comic will be alot better then Liaras comic and more fullfilling, sad but that's the hard truth.

I hope that any writing for Liara in ME3 has to be ratified by Drew personally. That way, we'll at least have the man that knows her best assisiting in the creation process.

I agree, I like Walters because he has wrote some of my fav characters and made TIM way better then what Drew did (TIM in ME2 was way better then that twilring mustache guy that was called tIm in Ascension) but Walters just can't do Liara. He has proven that, Liara is not his type of character. So I hope Walters assigns Liara to a writer who knows how to write her or ask for Drews help.

Unfortunately, thats likely never going to happen Les, its more about business at this point and Drew is fully entrenched in TOR.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...

Couldn't they possibly send him Liara's script so that he can quickly look over it? Make suggestions where necessary? Have him act in a kind if "Executive Producer" role? Is there no way at all any of that could be possible, Sunnie?

Sadly, Sunnie is right. TOR is a HUGE product. Drew will have less of a say in ME3 then he did in ME2. Our only hope is that Walters gets a diffrent writer for Liara who knows how to write her.

I did find the short Aria comic better than Redemption. It doesn't take much to achieve that, of course.

I think Aria's just better comic book material than Liara is. What makes Liara so great are things you really can't show off in a comic book.
Aria is my second fave asari behind Liara, though.

They could, but in this business that usually doesnt happen because of who's budget is being billed... And to be honest, I would be more scared of how butchered her character would be if a script is sent back and forth with nobody really being teh owner... it would be a disaster.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...

Yeah, you're right. I just want a writer that will do Liara justice, and write as fantastically well as possible. I hope they get it right for ME3.
