I like Walters, he tried his best with a character he never even wrote, knows or is even his type of character. Tho I am bias with Walters because he made Wrex so.....

And that is why it should have been romance exclusive. It comes off as faintly creepy and pathetic if you didn't romance her.

As far as I know, professional literature still requires the skills of writers and others in the related field in order to fully and properly flesh out acharacter. While it doesn't mean user feedback won't be acted on, I highly doubt character development could be done on feedback alone.

I think she did only subconciously and it wasn't apparent to her at the time. Consciously, she thought that just putting the body to rest was the best thing and was the option she herself wanted. Of course, because of her subconscious desire for Shepard to return, she didn't put up much of a fight when Miranda informed her what they were actually planning to do with the body.
I then think, over time, Liara realized all of this about herself and her motivations, thus coming to the conclusion that she did what she did b/c she couldn't let Shepard go.
I'd agree, but when Liara is recounting and telling of her thoughts and feelings, her guilt over the whole affair, she mentioned that this all happened "When I gave you to Cerberus". She says that she lied to herself that she was doing it for Shepard's sake and not her own desire to see Shepard revived when she was handing the corpse over, like she was aware of this at the time. I agree that Liara originally hunted down the corpse b/c she wanted to see Shepard put to rest, as TIM hadn't informed her of his intentions with the body. But, when Liara then learned of the Lazarus Project, that is when she then wanted to hand the corpse to Cerberus because she wanted to see Shepard rebuilt.

Liara relies on feedback since Drew is gone.

I think that what they were attempting to do there was show that Liara has strong feelings, though not necessarily romantic, for Shepard regardless of reciprocation. It's supposed to be vague and ambiguous so that it can be applied to both romanced and non-romanced Liara. It's laziness.
Oh, I hope you're able to continue writing your fic soon, jtav. What you'd written so far was excellent.

Heh, I know, I was just messing around. Let's face it, if we were in charge of writing Liara's character, it would be nothing but gushy love stuff. I'd have cavities from the amount of sweetness.CM26617 wrote...

But, in the comic, there are no hints of this...she's a bit reluctant to give the body to Cerberus for their crazy science experiment. She could have been referring to a time after this, when she finally came to the realization what was going on with her feelings....perhaps this was only a week later, so it's still in the same time frame, which is why she states 'When I gave you to Cerberus'.....she might not have meant the exact moment when she gave the body to them.

Except, it's not very vague and ambiguous...it screams 'I love you Shepard!!' and is (or should be) romance-specific. Perhaps it's a bug and non-romancers weren't intended to see that part?

Heh, I'm not sure how I would approach Liara were I in Walter's position. I was always the type to include some form of conflict between characters, but I guess there would be that element of love and hope.
And I believe, as one video game put it, "Hope runs deep."

Just does not feel right. For a romance Shepard ,it does, for a friend? Not so much....

I'm with jib on this one. The dialogue seemed a bit too lovey to not be interpretted otherwise, even if you didn't romance her.jlb524 wrote...

I can understand why they used her in the comic, she's accessible to both male and female Shepards. And I like how the comics weren't shoving a romance in your face. It's there if you want it to be, but if you didn't, then she can come across as just a concerned friend.
But then ME2 rolls around, and she drops the "I couldn't let you go," regardless of romance status. That line sounds like it's right out of Titanic.

You don't how hard It is hard to write a character that is not even your type of character nor a character he even wrote. It's not easy, it could have been ALOT worse then what happen. Walters is a good writer, exampls are Wrex, Aria, TIM and others.

Walters is a good writer, he is also the reason why TIM was SO MUCH better then that moron Drew wrote in his book.
