I'm pretty sure the whole working for the Shadow Broker line, is just more sloppy writing. Why would such a huge inconsistency exist without any explanation?

I interpret it as being TIM attempting to manipulate Shepard into distrusting Liara, and to try to drive a wedge between them. TIM does not want Shepard to learn of the events of Redemption, and Liara's part in recovering Shepard's corpse. So, he lies to Shepard in order to sow the seeds of distrust.
I hope it's something that's clarified in the DLC eventually. I want to challenge TIM on why he lied about Liara.

That would just be incredibly derp writing all round. Liara thinks that the Shadow Broker is so abhorrent that she wants to remove him from the galaxy, but then see's fit to replace him? Wouldn't make sense, plus as soon as the SB is removed, she's back on board the Normandy with Shepard, as she expresses desire to in ME2.

Yeah...that's the problem. No matter how much we may rationalise that whatever direction wouldn't make sense for Liara's character, BioWare can do as they please. It doesn't matter how much we analyse and conclude that it wouldn't be realistic, BW will do as they want.
I'll try to stay optimistic, though!
However, I really do think the SB!Liara and the whole dark side thing is something we won't say.

Well, we can't exactly trust those cut files, TMA. They were cut, and give Bw a chance to either strike up that same direction, or head in an entirely different one. We'll see.

Yes, and they were not located in the 'LiaraDLC' file archive, but in the regular old Liara ME2 one. I still think it was material cut originally from ME2 (like a lot of stuff was). While they may reuse some of it, I'm hoping that there will be new stuff recorded.
What I don't want for them to use is the 'Oh, it's going to take me years and years to go through this data' line in order to keep her from joining you at the end of DLC. They can think of something better, b/c, you know, she can always look through data on the damn Normandy, especially with EDI's help.
Though, I think she will need to sift through it, as the SB may have some info on the Reapers. However, there is no reason she has to do this in her tiny office and without the aid of a powerful AI (EDI).

What I actually think we're hearing in those cut audio files is BW's original intention in terms of the reason as to why Liara wouldn't join up with the squad in ME2. She wanted to sift through the SB's data in order to search for info on the Collectors so that she can assist Shepard in the upcoming battles. That's the reason why, she was trying to help Shepard in what she perceived to be the best possible way. Once the Collectors were defeated and the suicide mission completed, Liara would have then rejoined the Normandy's crew.

Oh, that's right. I forgot that she mentions 'the Collectors' when she says that line. So, this was definitely old dialog that has been scrapped, probably shortly after they decided to do the Redemption thing.
