I'ma fan of all the characters in the game, can't find a reason to hate any of them, they're all cool.
Plus I'm glad I'm not contributing to the "lolloloo i virmirez dat whiny/raycyst biotch an it feelt gewwwd" or any number of comments about people dying on the suicide mission.
By saying you felt good doing it makes me wonder about your mental stability.
Ugh, I cannot stand those people that say they wish they could have left both Ashley and Kaidan on Virmire. I wish I could save both of them, as I absolutely adore the pair! Liara and Ashley are probably my two favourite Mass Effect characters.
IMO, there needs to be alot more open dialogue and interaction between the various character fanbases. At the moment, it seems like their independant factions that are not on speaking terms with each other. I think this needs to change!

To be honest, if Liara required her romance to be interesting, she wouldn't be worth romancing. My current She is single, and I don't feel like I'm missing Liara's character. The romance enhances her arc. It doesn't define it.
Exactly. Liara is a deep, intricate, nuanced and interesting character regardless of romance. I can talk about aspects of Liara's character all day that do not feature romance.

I have heard you get a real nice conversation with her (only when not romanced) where she asks you about the Prothean-beacon induced nightmares you have been having. Too bad I will never see this.

I have heard about this too. She still shows concern for Shepard's welfare and wellbeing even when not romanced. Considering her personality, I wouldn't expect anything different!
I also could never avoid Liara's romance.

Some of us are trying. Mostly I just get ignored/funny looks. And it's tough to go into a support thread and see your favorite character bashed.

I hope you've been made to feel welcome here, jtav.
I find the fact that you've come to love and appreciate Liara's character to be awesome.

In retrospect, saying that you're primarily interested in the character and not his/her romance is probably not the best first impression, or that you've been mulling over a Character/Someone not Shep fic isn't the best introduction.

Thanks, it's cool!
I don't see why anybody would react negatively to either one of those things. In fact, I'd argue that introducing yourself by saying that you're primarily interested in Liara's character and not her romance is preferable, as it shows that you appreciate who she is, and not just her actual romance. I like that, and it shows how interesting Liara's character is.

Being interested in Liara character over her romance is nothing to be viewed in a negative light. I, for instance, was interested in her character way before I ever did her romance. It is not the romance that should carry the character, it is the character that should carry the romance.

I know the ME1 LIs threads are pretty cool with each other, ocaasionally bumping one another and talking. The Tali thread is so big I haven't looked much through it. I've lurked Garrus' thread for a while before. I see a lot of "lul I dumped that racist fer big boobs!" and I just leave most.
I don't care if you don't like the character, it's all up to yourself - but come on, really?
I like Liara because of her personality, she has such a kind and innocent aura. Sure, she's killed before, but wouldn't you if you were being shot at? Kill or be killed.
It's still a breath of fresh air.

I've been sniffing around the Kaidan thread and mostly feeling a little lost.
