That's because that aspect remindes her of the job she likes.
Thus, she's finding comfort and enjoyment in an aspect of the job which she feels relates back to archaeology, something she is intensely passionate about.
There was a certain degree of pride in Liara's "I'm a very good information broker, Shepard" line.

Yes there is, but I like is the rest of that line when Liara talks about the diference between the bodies in both jobs, it reminds me of her more funny coments in ME1

Yup, and that part of her line also works to emphasise her dislike and distaste for aspects of the job she doesn't enjoy.

Do you think that Liara would feel guilty if Shepard died in the suicide misson without her?
Of course, and that's probably one of her greatest fears.
The fact that they don't have Liara say specifically that during her ME2 scenes is just appalling writing.

I think so. I think the same could be said for Ashley and Kaidan.

That's the thing that bothers me most in her ME2 story because the fact that she doesn't go with Shepard to protect him is against everithing that we see about Liara so far.

Liara is so very very close to ending her 2 year long hunt for the SB, though. I don't think it would be as easy as we think for her to just leave it all and join Shepard on a suicide mission.
Yeah, all of that effort, that pain, that blood, sweat and tears, two long years of hard, painful work would amount to nothing if Liara just dropped everything to join up again. It's a little selfish to expect that of her.
Plus, Liara even says herself that she considers herself close to finding the Shadow Broker.

But if Shepard dies would Liara think that was worth catching the SB instead of helping Shepard? After all she is hunting the SB to make him pay for what he have done to Shepard.

That's where Liara's internal conflict arises. She already expresses remorse and regret that she can't go with Shepard in ME2. She's probably praying that she returns from the suicide mission alive and well. Liara's pain and grief that is fueling her motivations and desire to eliminate the SB would be increased tenfold. She'd be suffering with the guilt terribly. Like I said, that's where her internal conflict comes from.

I don't know...I don't think they did a good job clarifying Liara's reasons for going after the SB. I think it's more than just about Shepard and Feron. I think she knows something about the SB that we don't yet.
Also, I think Liara can have a bit of an obsessive personality over her work and she loves puzzles, so it would be very difficult for someone like her to just give it up willy nilly when she is so close to solving a huge puzzle.

Why would Liara keep this information from Shepard? To protect her, and not provide a distraction. Liara knows Shepard has got enough on her plate already, what with the suicide mission. If Liara gives Shepard even more to worry about, then that could provide a distraction and result in Shepard's death. Liara would want to protect her.

Well, I think it's more because it's now become her life. It's more then just a puzzle to solve. For 2 years, it's been eat, sleep, run a business, search for Feron, hunt the Shadow Broker, Shepard's dead. And repeat. Then Shepard just comes back from the dead, and tells her to drop everything, and come with him. The answer of course is no, because this is her life now, and Shepard's screwing with that for simply being alive.

Exactly that is my point the reasons the in the way that they are presented doesn't make much sense.

Yeah, that was my initial point...it's tough to just give it all up after two years of blood/sweat/tears. Plus, on top of that, is her personality and love of puzzles.

I don't think that's the reason because in ME1 was exactly this what happened and she didin't show big problem in leaving her old life behind, and that was her life for a much longer time than this new life as information broker.
