Liara surely thinks that the SB is a bad guy/gal/whatev and needs to be stopped. It seems that, in ME1, the SB was neutral or amoral....Liara seems to disagree for some reason. The question is, is it just because of the Collector deal for Shep's body or is there more to it?

She says she wants to 'peel away layers of lies and shine light into the shadows' of this SB empire, so that tells me that Liara expects that the SB has many skeletons in its closet.

IIRC, the Shadow Broker was considered a bad guy/gal in ME1 as well. Anderson describes it as "a necessary evil" of galactic politics. He describes the SB as being able to manipulate the system and it's people into playing it's game for it's own benefit, and so that neither side ever gains an advantage. The SB does not care about any particular cause or goal, it only wanted to increase it's own power. It remained neutral.

By allying itself with the Collectors, however, the Shadow Broker has broken it's own pledge of impartiality, and neutrality. The SB was a bad guy before, but now it has become a menace to galactic civilization through picking and deferring to a side. Liara is obviously aware of this.

I still obviously think that Liara believes or is aware of some more abhorrent details about the Shadow Broker, things she believes warrants attempting to remove it from the galaxy. I'm trust trying to elaborate on what we already know and have confirmed about Liara's hunt for the Shadow Broker, and how it may be a good motivation for her, regardless of additional crimes it may have committed.

Hahaha! Lizardviking keeping us rosy-cheeked little muppets in line with
brutal realism ../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png

Good to see my pessimisem is corrupting this place.

Anyway. If bioware choses to. Then they can still pull off a down-ending without killing Shepard. If the lazarus implants are reaper based, then perhaps a reaper could posses Shepard permanatly (Like in overlord DLC just abit worse). Resulting in Liara being forced to kill Shepard in self-defence.

Today's Cerberus Daily News mentions that the city "Usaru" on Thessia might be the Asari-equivalent to New York City, in terms of the city's renown.  A very high-profile movie release was attended by movie's stars simultaneously at both NYC and Usaru.  It also mentions that one of the movie's human actresses attended the premiere with her Asari bond-mate, which tells us that the Asari are at least welcome on Earth.

I love gleaning little things like that from Cerberus Daily News.

*imagines Liara and Shepard settling down together, and buying houses on both Earth and Thessia*

Sigh....I'd love that.

Interesting...I need to check the news more often. It also seems there's been some cultural cross-over between asari and humans, as an asari movie is being shown and appreciated in NYC.

Didn't it also mention that the asari have really taken to Valentine's Day too? I forget.

There could be a definite merge and mutual appreciation of human and asari culture.

This reduces the possibility of Liara and Shepard relationship being bad recived by both of their species.

Yeah, pretty much.  After I played ME1, I imagined in the canon that exists in my head, that Shep and Liara would be criticized or shunned for the relationship...this seems to definitely not be the case :wizard:

The Asari have taken to it because of their role as mediators, and because it's similar in a way to the Asari holiday, "Janiris".
The Volus have taken to it for the very same reason greeting card companies have taken to Valentine's Day

Can't imagine the xenophobes and bigots like Terra Firma will be too happy about possibly the most famous human in history's children not being human at all, and Shepard's genetic legacy continuing on through the asari.

Screw 'em.

But still, aside from the hardline, neo-con racists, humans and asari would love Shepard and Liara as a couple, and would welcome it with open arms.

This makes me very happy!

Those people are probably in the minority, though.  It seems most humans have at least accepted human/asari relations (and vice versa).

It may be akin to homosexual couples today.  Most people seem pretty accepting of it, and we even see that celebrities are starting to come out more.  However, you still have a vocal few who are still opposed to it.

Okay.  The article doesn't mention specifically that the human actress has an Asari bond-mate, but the words used, and the name of the woman's "life partner" seem to be implying that she's an Asari.

"Leading lady Kate First was on hand with her life partner Elyina Renezia..."

Elyina Renezia sounds very Asari to me.   "Life partner" doesn't necessarily imply anything either way.

Of course, these viewpoints would be very much marginalised. Humans and asari are very much accepting of the two species falling in love with each other, it seem.

Any criticism they may encounter would be the equivalent of homophobes damning homosexual relationships like you said, J, or perhaps people who are prejudiced against interracial relationships.

The first name ends with an 'A' and the last name rhymes with 'Benezia'...very asari!

Kasumi's dialogue seems to imply that Shepard and Liara's relationship was reasonably well known at the time. I imagine it would have been dug up by the gutter press in order to fill their pages of "news". They'd want all the gossip surrounding the private life of the saviour of the galaxy.

Yeah, I think so.  Someone on the Normandy must have gossiped about them.

Yup. It would have then been leaked to the gutter press like I said, and gossip and speculation surrounding the possible relationship between the saviour of the galaxy, and the daughter of the Matriarch who assisted Saren would be hot news. It'd be featured in a futuristic version of those banal celebrity shows. :D

Probably Liara and shepard were treated as super stars after both saving the galaxy and the fact that they are in love for eachother and starting a relationship would be something that would be all over the news.

I can imagine Liara that Liara would not be very happy with all the exposition.

Honestly, they'd probably be one of the galaxy's most famous couples....the Angelina and Brad of the future.

Imagine the paparazzi hounding and harassing Liara...ugh.

Khalisa al-Jilani and her ilk would be relentlessly pursuing both Liara and Shepard.

However, it would have been nice to see Liara and Shepard both go onto a talk show together.:wizard:

How do you think that Liara would deal with the more "friendly" Shepard fans?

I belive that Liara would trust Shepard completlely, but still I can see her not being able to control herself and throwing some of this fans in the presidium lake.
